  1. I meant that the record should have an overall grade but if it differs between two sides you cant just say its M- because of one side. In our hypothetical case it would be M-/VG+ ROD
  2. Pete what im saying is that if there are defects on B it should be mentioned. So a record that is M- on A but VG+ on B it should be stated preferably with a short description. You wouldn't take the middle road there and call the 45 VG++ [or EX] you'd just list both sides. Sure I see that a lot of the time on Ebay. ROD
  3. I didn't seem to get that problem Dave but it is a while since I sold on there. I guess you could add in BIG LETTERS dont pay by auto checkout. Wait till I contact you. ROD
  4. Me neither. You can get it on b-side of that Joey Kingfish on Connoisseurs. You can then play it and not feel a complete fraud. Sounds like it was recorded underwater. I remember Rick Cooper's car tapeplayer. Every record sounded like it was recorded by Jacques Cousteau. ROD
  5. I think I used to get round it by just using the description box to give postage costs after describing 45 for sale. ROD
  6. He phoned me the rat fink ! But thank you for bearing in mind in future. ROD
  7. Actually if you could not remove the prices please. Members do use sales as a resource to check up on current prices. Thanks ROD [Forum Moderator]
  8. Seen it Scal. If I get a "cant refuse swap" Im doing it. Otherwise I'll save it for you. ROD
  9. Er... Joey is VG++ I'd say. Couple of scuffs. Issue copy with "Sample Copy" sticker on reverse. GONE Lee is M- DJ Dana is M- DJ [red text] GONE Caswell is M- DJ Really nice copies. All originals. Quite happy to send upfront. Looking for 60's Northern but with the emphasis on soul. Must be similar condition. PM if anything to swap. Thanks ROD
  10. On this ad Tezza isnt the place to discuss it. I didn't even mention the VG- Syl Johnson. ROD
  11. Just like to point out here that in no way can a G condition cracked copy of W&W be described as a "nice slab of wax" ROD [Forum Moderator]
  12. Im sure you will be reasonable Dave, but about this X-rated video of Sound of Music video you sold me at Boomerang. I dont think Christopher Plummer in lederhosen is all that explicit. ROD
  13. I reckon Simon the rumour came about purely because it was a quite common 45 that you saw a lot. ROD
  14. Just to avoid any confusion here the site grading and the site policy is that the grade reflects both sides of a 45. To be honest I hadn't the slightest idea that there may be people out there who would describe a 45 as M- if B-side was in a lesser condition. It is an overall grade for the record, not just one side. Any defects should be pointed out before sale to avoid buyers receiving goods they may otherwise have not bought. I see Mr. Rimmer did the right thing by standing behind what he sold and refunding but it all could have been avoided if the "crackles" had been mentioned. As for how value is affected by problems with the B-side I would say that depends entirely on demand for the 45, value, and the person who is buying it. I wouldn't assume that because a seller feels that the b-side is unimportant that the buyer is of the same opinion. I dont think this is likely to be something that occurs regularly. In my experience conditions of A and B sides tend to be overall very similar. Sellers can ask what they want for a 45 but if you are charging something like book value for a M- 45 you cant really ignore it if the other side is not in that condition, particularly if we are talking numerous marks or scratches. That should be stated to avoid disputes arising. ROD [Forum Moderator]
  15. NO. This is bumping. Please next time just edit your original post. Do not add an extra post. Thank you Rod [Forum Moderator]
  16. Recently on Ebay sold for £190. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Northern-Soul-FRANK-DELL-HE-BROKE-YOUR-GAME-LISTEN-RARE-/160963936477?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT&nma=true&si=idSEg12%252FJxiNJu154FErfsC6UxY%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc ROD
  17. I think this would have less appeal than an orig Okeh except amongst a limited set of buyers. So I'd rate the same. ROD
  18. Depends on sound deterioration really. Up to you though I'd punt for VG+ Nice unmarked vinyl but crackles blah blah. Whatever you think on listening. ROD
  19. Probably not place to discuss grading but... Some visually grade, others playgrade. Personally I think both visual and sound should come into the one grade. No problem as you have spelt it out. You dont want comeback if someone reads M- and forgets the caveat. ROD
  20. I am at a loss to understand how something in M- condition plays with noise and that your price reflects that. Shouldn't the grading be lower ? ROD [Forum Moderator]
  21. Hope Im not being facetious here,Chalky but prices in dealers' boxes is last thing I'd look at other than to compare prices if same 45s in different boxes. Fact that there in a box, usually for some time, shows IMO probably too expensive. Such a demand for Northern at right price they should sell almost immediately. Based on my experience of selling. ROD
  22. I know Pete. And Frankie Valli was Cecil Washington of its day. Still a great record with a fantastic break for dancers. ROD
  23. I can chinstroke with the best of 'em, Bazza so Im not suggesting that this 45 is ripe for re-activation just because some dont know it. It is of a time and place. For me and Mark S long before M's. In 2013 it really has no place, based on the wealth of so much better music, outside of a night designed to capture that era. Even back then I woulda swapped Wayne for Impressions,Fascinations,Contours etc without hesitation. It does take me back when I hear it and in fact two good sides of 60's pop. As an aside my mum used to work with Wayne's mum at McVitie's in Levenshulme. ROD
  24. Ah but its history goes back way before M's Chalky. Late 60's spin along with the likes of say Spencer Davis "Trampoline" Embryonic Northern scene really. ROD
