  6. Days Long Ago Should old acquaintances be forgotten And never be remembered? Should old acquaintances be forgotten and days long ago. Chorus: For days long ago, my dear, For days long ago We'll drink a cup of kindness yet For days long ago! And surely you'll have your pint tankard And surely I'll have mine. And we'll drink a cup of kindness yet For days long ago. Chorus We two have run about the hills And pulled the daisies fine But we've wandered many a weary mile Since the days long ago. Chorus We two have paddled in the stream From morning sun till dinner-time But the broad seas have roared between us Since the days long ago. Chorus And here's my hand, my trusty friend, And give me your hand too, And we will take an excellent good-will drink For the days of long ago. I LIKE THE SPIRIT OF AULD LAND SYNE BUT NEVER REALLY UNDERSTOOD WHAT IT WAS ABOUT. THIS ENGLISH TRANSLATION MAKES IT EVEN MORE POIGNANT. HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL!!

  12. Steve Wrights afternoon show on radio 2 has a slot titled Factoids, they tell us little bits of info about celebs or nature etc, all good fun and often interesting, so I though ok what little bits of info (factoids) do we have on anything soul related?????? for instance I know a top Soul Dj whos dad drove the Bealtles around for a couple of years in the 60ts, won't mention his name because i haven't asked permission to say who it is. Just a bit of fun for crimbo
  13. A very merry Christmas and happy new year to you and yours and I hope Santa is as kind to you as he is going to be to your little 'un. Chris and Sharon Cooper
  14. Thanks everyone for the information. Make very interesting reading.
  15. Does anybody know which was the first SOUL allnighter. I know people mention The Wheel but my elder brother was going to the Dungeon in Nott'm somewhere around 66-67, later the Dungeon became the Beachcomber. Was there others earlier than the Wheel and Dungeon?????????
  16. You know, i finished work on Fridays got ready and went down to the Brit, (Nott,m)where after much scrounging managed to get a lift to Wigan, sometimes did it by train others by hitchhiking. Sat went to Nottingham, to selectadisc and Image (clothes shop) then the Forest for the game. Straight after went of to Wigan and spent the night, dancing, occasionally pill popping, and having a great time. thought I was doing it because I enjoyed it but has with all this media crap says I was doing it because I was socially deprived and trying to escape the tedium of life. Does it ever accur to these sad people that we did it because we wanted to and if we wanted to escape we could have gone to Australia with all the others.
  17. Wanted one copy of Imaginations 'Strange Neighbourhood'

  19. From where did you assume that the proper soulies thread was a swipe at a neighbouring DJ /Promoter or is that just your own supposition??
  20. How about 'Good Love Gone Bad' The Ambassadors,
  21. A 10th grader is 16 I reckon Sharon
  22. I think this has run its course anyway, nothing more to say Cheers Mike
  23. Hi Dendog, sorry mate but the thread doesn't ask a question about 'whats on the flyer' , secondly it didn't question the group offering the flyer or the promoters intentions. Maybe you missed the point, I don't care who promotes what, where, why or when or what language they use on their flyers, my question was and still is 'whats a proper soulie'. Whatever folks make of that is up to them but it will not change the reason I posted the thread and it is quite clear as you read through the thread that the debate has moved on from my original post
