Both the Marilyn Barbarin 45 and 103 below (from Metairie, LA) are arranged by Wardell Quezerque and written by Virgil Engeran (the label owner?), so that's probably the same label. I don't know if the last three 45s (from New Orleans) are also related (they are a div. of Engeron Investment Corp. though...).

To be honest i think the record was a torch spin and yes the flip is great -do know that their other equally brill record on rampart I had a strange dream did get a stafford airing however -it was respun at the bishop auckland rugby club nights mid nineties also,if you dont have it get it same melting vocals !! BAZ A Four Tempos-Got To Have You................amazing tune...they outdo the Four Tops on this.This Is The Way I feel aint bad either and both cheap as chips Was it ever spun anywhere as a newie?

good story Gilly me old mate-I always feel he never gets the plaudits he deserves particulary for the seventies stuff Glass House etc would love a complete discography of all his work if anyone can help it will give me something to do over xmas -to see how many I have etc and to fill some gaps ,play so many records by him all of the time particulary storyteller etc -need to be needed is one of my favs etc -he is a massive talent !! Was lucky to of been the one sort of looking after him.On his first visit he was stopping over at Chris Kings house in Carlton,Notts we then ran him up to Parr Hall,Warrington,he went on stage and did a bit of DJing.The second time he sang at that Birmingham Venue and apart from when he was doing the business he wouldnt let me leave his side.I used to see him on my trips in Detroit and he never forgot me,proberly had all his released stuff,a fantastic singer.Hope his health improves Dave

Different ones for different reasons -first one was late 78 heard it at the casino stoped wearing baggies etc and got into real soul after this -it was the four tempos got to have you on rampart ,just an incredible haunting sound think Evison played it in his oldies spot -OTHERS HAVE IN INCLUDED-the Butch cover up "just go on and laugh"and the first time i heard both the barons of soul and Jesse james love is alright,suppose all these would be classed as good northern soul!! On the deep and sweet side i am discovering stuff everyday in my volts that blows me away played Michael Washington-[wondering] this morning must of put it aside it was a gift of Paul Sadot i it blew me away as did the flipside of moody women Jerry Butler bloody sleepers on the flip of passed popular records still surprising you after all these years,deep and sweet gobsmacks me more these days but do look forward to getting out a bit more next year and been blown away at some of the more upfront venues !!
