  1. hi all. yes working 12 hour days and working away from home most of the time means that i dont spend much time on soul source. also i dont have the knowledge about scanning labels and posting them up. i dont seem to have the time to educate myself in this way. i appreciate that some people dont use or have never heard of soul source. they dont know what they are missing. back to the job in hand.the scan marc forrest put up was deffo not right. i`m not saying marc did`nt have a real one for sale.but the scan was the same as my copy which as far as i know is a boot. the original is more orangey than bright yellow. the writing is not blurred. on this copy it was. also on this copy, look at the sunstruck logo. i thought there were three of them. on the other hand.it could be marcs scanner or better still I thought i had a boot and it may be a real one dave pinches of the pinches twins ( south yorkshires best kept secret)
  2. finished at $671 and looks like a boot to me.just goes to show after all the threads on soul source people dont put 2 and 2 together item no 230238215024 dave

im sure the vocalist on all the northern offerings was i guy called jay proctor jay traynor was vocalist on the early jay and the americans records but left for a solo career in 1963. "come a little bit closer" is not bad for a pop northern tune dave
  4. mines a demo brett. issues a bit harder innit. not even sure what they call the flip dave
  5. hi shaun great show as always. i love the flip of freddie terrell. "why not me" choon currently playing this out myself. a question 4 you mate. whats the b side of the confunkshun 45 and is it on mercury cheers dave
  6. godoy colbert sang with free movement on their decca and columbia output from the early 70s dont think him and len jewell are one and the same dave
  7. i have a copy of the version above and i always thought it was a second or third issue there are blue copies with a piano intro but ive ever seen it. anyone confirm but there is definately a green copy. looks the same but green and not greeny blue dave
  8. dont know about moonlighting but the vocalist is the same as magnetics count the days and the volumes same old feeling and am i losing you ,the flip of aint gonna give you up. dave

its a strange one isnt it. a couple of people close to me bought them from soul bowl around that time. and the first thing i noticed wasnt the misspelling but the typeface. out of all the millions upon millions of records abc put out with the same font. why was this one different all anorak stuff i know but does anybody else notice these things dave
  11. Dave Pinch replied to a post in a topic in Look At Your Box
i never saw this until maybe 5 years ago. the font/typeface just doesnt look right to me. ive got loads of abc soul and pop records from the early/mid 7os including a vynil copy of your love. and the typeface of the you love copies are totally different. just an opinion of course but i would only buy one with the proper spelling............... or phillipino probe of course dave
  12. dont understand what all the fuss is about. wouldnt give tupence for it. one of the bottom 10 northern records IMHO dave
  13. well the vinyl is exactly the same on the black and silver demo as it is on the blue and silver issue.it might be his record but i would take what sammy says with a very large pinch of salt. unless someone wants to sell me one of those black and silver bootleg demos for a tenner dave
  14. quality.... why does nobody play this
  15. got to say " where have you been all my life" is probably my fave choon on the label carol williams "love is you" runs it close tho. top class dave
  16. sold mine for £30 a few years ago. i wish i hadent now. not very often i regret selling stuff. but theres about a dozen titles i let go . not the money either its finding the buggers dave
  17. fantastic chooon but not sure its fast enough to take the northern scene by storm dave
  18. svr 105 perfections - ilove you my love b/w am igonna lose you svr 106 durettes - sweet sweet love b/w tidal wave svr 106 durettes - sweet sweet love b/w perfections i love you my love might be a misspress or maybe promo purposes but all came out at the same time
  19. yestheres 5 years between the recordings, volcano`s end of 1964 and the ambassadors came out at the tail end of 1969 dave
  20. hi harry the white demo does exist. i had one thruout the 90s and then sold it to little john ullah who sadly is no longer with us. its white with black writing and he gave me £125 for it. in retrospect, thats was a lot of money for it. but its a rare piece IMVHO.the issue is more readily available.ive had 2 in the last 3 years. both came from the USA and were only $35 each. I kept 1 and sold one to mick waddington (soulful mick on here) for £40. I rate the issue at £75. I dont think its a common record tho dave
  21. Dave Pinch replied to a post in a topic in Look At Your Box
I thought maybe a little more than that say between 4-500 quid cheaper on ebay possibly. it was £500 10 years ago and maybe a little out of fashion just now but its still a rare record dave
  22. what im saying is that 1 hes been very cagey and 2 no one knows the facts except mr spivens him or herself. time will tell. yes i do have a vested interest in the 45 and dont want to lose money cos im a pauper dave
  23. Dave Pinch replied to a post in a topic in All About the SOUL
just magic malc. but to be honest i love guess who`s original version as well dave
  24. dont forget this record has been around a long time and im not disputing the quality of it. it just shades the arcades for me. only 4 on ebay that popsike has picked up but popsike dont pick everything up. all the top dealers have auctioned a copy in recent years since auctioning rare records became the norm. but what about all the years b4 that. ive seen at least 10 copies meself and i dont see bugger all compared to some. think i may have been a bit extreme with 100. but 10. your having a laugh I still think i made a good move keeping the fascinators. every body i talked to said i was insane if i went ahead with the deal dave
