Northern Noise Magazine
Yep, there were indeed 4 issues of Northern Noise...blue, green, red and yellow covers, and yes they were produced by Russ. Sorry can't scan 'em as mine are in storeage...hopefully someone else can sort you out.

Comment: Theres a girl version on CBS,
What a coincidence...I came across a female version of a male thing on a UK CBS demo yesterday! It was by Jan Painter and is a cover of Vic Henderson's, 'Stand by and cry' (US Coral)...not a bad beat ballad, but not as good as Vic.

Tmg 500S Where Are They ?
They are mostly hits/obvious tracks, not that I have them all...x23 out of the x30 I'm aware of, so there is still hope! The sleeves are pretty neat though...some are gate-fold...and come to think of it one of the early Supremes EP has x5 tracks on it rather than x4...odd!

Tmg 500S Where Are They ?
Pic sleeves...mmm...nice I'm currently enjoying collecting Japanese Tamla Motown releases...45's, EP's and LP's...demos and stock copies of course...all have pic covers too! I also have the challenge of trying to piece together what exactly came out, as there is no label listing to be found...and the catalogue prefix numbers don't run consecutively! It has similairities with UK releases, as in the early numbers appeared on other labels before the Tamla Motown logo came into being, and some demos of the same catalogue number appear on different coloured labels. My aim is to complete the first 100 45's (up to @ '72), all the EP's and the first 100 LP's (up to @ '73). I will complete this project, oh yes I will! Then there are the general non-Motown Soul releases over here...this project will take, ahem, a little longer, as I seem to turn up new titles every week...amazing what came out over here! Back to the TMG 500's...we put together all the label scans over on RareSoulForum.co.uk ...think they are still there within one of the old threads.

Confirm Or Deny?
Last year I played him the instrumental version...he thought it sounded familiar!

Al Kent
If anyone has a demo they are willing to trade/sell, please PM me.

Confirm Or Deny?
Thinking about it further, the shop owner I got them from said that they came from the daughter of the label owner? I believe they are legit...but...are a modern day press of a vintage unreleased at-the-time recording.

Look I Know I'm Always Moaning But
Add me to a list of folk spending more on postage when I sell discs, than I actually charge customers. Why... ...I send all discs out via an International courier service that has never let me down and seems to be able to get a parcel from Japan to UK doorsteps in as little as 48 hours, with an average of under 5 days for sure. Never had any parcels go missing or get damaged and you can track them online. Therefore I don't mind spending the extra...usually costs me £7+ (for a one disc parcel) and I charge £5 per parcel. Charging excessive postal rates just ain't cricket.

Confirm Or Deny?
Hi Ian...hope you're well squire...still have the beer-towel you gave me safely tucked in my trousers...keep the faith brother, right on! Anyhow, back to Nancy Butts...it is roughly as Ian and Gareth have already stated, as in there was a relation living in Essex married to a UK bloke...Guy playing it off an acetate...the relation pressed them up and dumped them in a few shops in Essex (Westcliff on Sea and Southend)...and it being a press from @ 1987/8. Think there were 300 copies and they were as cheap as £15 and as 'expensive' as £40 for a fair while. I think I flogged/traded some with Kev Draper at the time?! Great tune.

The Dells
If anyone else wants one, I have a few unplayed US copies...£12 inc postage from Japan. What a fabulous, fabulous tune!
-
Jay Bee & The Mighty Sensations On Thunderbolt
Great tune...ex 'Billy Arnell' c/up! First time I heard it I thought it was probably an acetate as it seemed to go on too long...which ain't a bad thing at all! Info - their other Thunerbolt disc isn't too good and they also back Thomas Hall on Diamond. Happy hunting.
-
Blue Jays Point Of View
Even cheaper in the 80's...was as low as £15 and as much as £30 on lists...one dealer had a healthy handful once upon a time too! However, those days are long gone, it is now a well known and established tune, so...you know the rest of the story! Always sounds fresh..love the way it swings along...nice drumming!

Wanted Please
What's Dave up to nowadays? He had some great discs go through his hands...I recall buying mint unplayed copies of The Group on Prophonics and Hyperions on Chattahoochee on one occasion!
-
Bobby Hill On Lo Lo
True. Haven't heard from him in an age...anyone know what he is up to nowadays?
-
Lee Rogers " Sock Some Love Power To Me"
I sold a minter about 18 months ago for £50...could've sold at least three more copies at that point too! £60-£70 is fair for sure.
-
Bobby Hill On Lo Lo
When I were a lad, this discs was always listed for the other side! 'To the bitter end'...proper stomping atmospheric NSoul. Reminds me of two things - Dave Evison playing it at Wigan, and buying my first copy (along with a Brice Coefield WD) from Little Steve Smith in Gloucester, for a few pounds...a long time ago!

** More To Clear **
A lot of mileage left in this tune imo. Great dance track...decent price...recommended.
