I'm here...well remembered as I reviewed it back in '99 for Shades of Soul: >>> Disc Reviews <<< Yes, the flipside is tops...but...the version on this number release is the later recording with added brass, percussion etc as featured on the reissue LP...not as good as the orginal #724 purple label copies...imo.

But that is all too easy! I think at least 25 years of hunting and not knowing are required in order to truly appreciate a disc! Never had or seen a copy...I will ask the guys this evening at the collectors doo to see if they can help.

I've had mis-pressed copies with 1005 labels on them as well. Maybe the guy at the pressing plant was having a bad day and messed up a few recording/label combinations?!

For reference: That Swan label scan showing above is fake made up one, and the Virtue label copy I had was more purple than red...does anyone have a red one?!

The Virtue guy also recorded for Swan...'No Good' / 'The Boston Monkey', of which NG was Pat Brady's old 'Detroit Wheels' c/up at the tail-end of the Casino days. Collectors beware that the WDs of this one do not feature NG, more's the pity. Must admit I didn't keep my copy of the Virtue disc for long and traded it away to Gerhard in Frankfurt...he may still have it? I'll leave it to the US members to pin-point his accent down as to where in the States he may be from!

I think you can guess what I'm now gonna say...yes it also sneaked out in Japan as a 7" on Decca...in a picture sleeve, of course! I'm a big Len Barry fan. (as with others I love Jackie's, 'Send her away'...pure UK pop production...fabulous!)

Tangent: Is there a red/yellow label release for 'Landslide'? I was offered a decent bunch of early Chess/Checker 45's this past weekend, and x10 were on the lovely looking red/yellow label design (mostly West Coast)...artists included Jan Bradley, Billy Stewart, Tony Clarke, Mitty Collier, Corsairs, Roosevelt Nettles, Eddie Bo...dead nice looking...plus there were some other earlier releases up for grabs from Harvey, Vibrations, Billy Miranda and Chuck Berry etc...I nice little collection! (If anyone is interested drop me a PM as they may still be available.)

I went through the Paul For Music stock back in the late 80's...I recall Paul and David...I was their Charly Records rep at the time. I also recall the unopened Chess labelled boxes, including Dells - Make sure...if you grabbed a x25 count box out of a x200 main box then it was me who split it open! Like you I didn't get much out of it...I did however get a nice bunch of UK label 45's from a shop just off the Old Kent Road (not far from the Charly offices)...all mint and unplayed...including Roy Hamilton - Panic, Shane Martin and mutiple copies of various other bits and bobs. This would've been back in the mid 80's. Happy days when i was a knight of the road travelling up and down the land having to go to record shops as a job!

Oddly enough it took me 5 years to get a Japanese 7" of this one...also from Japan...odd that!
