Favourite Soul Ballads
Could go on for years this... Are we talking straight ballads or 'beat ballads' ?? Chuck Jackson & Tommy Hunt - Two of my all time favourite balladeers. Chucks 'I Need You' hits me everytime. Big Maybelle - 'Oh Lord What Are You Doing To Me' .... Oh...my...god... Rich

The Wildweeds - It Was Fun While It Lasted
'Can't You See' is a lovely lovely 45 - Very under-rated - Deserves more attention. Just done a quick ebay search and lists Al Anderson as a former guitarist for the Wildweeds - Looks like a right hippie/rocker. Any info on the group anyone? Rich

How Rare Is This? If Even Issued
Always think Motown / Universal missed a bit of a trick when they did the big re-issue thing last year or so by maybe not issuing some ltd 45s with unreleased material on ala what Kent/Ace do? Just looking at the unreleased material on the Cellar series is more than enough instead of the 'enterprising' bootleggers on ebay etc we all know and hate.... Suggestions for 45s? Rich

Swing Value Please
Where does this fit in with his other material? Is it post Okeh / pre KoKo? I see its from a Memphis seller - Is this the source of the label? Rich
-
Swing Value Please
That would be Butchs' old Jerry Williams cover up wouldn't it? Manship had a copy earlier this year I think - Cant remember how much it went for but it was lots! Rich
-
Values Please
The re-presses of Owens / Mel Britt etc can or have fetched anything up to £20/£30 on ebay on a good day. Best place to sell them I reckon - Sometimes the prices go incredibly stupid.. Willie J & Co £80/£100??? I know it went silly for a while on Manship auction etc . Rich

Bargains
C'mon guys! Check Samson & Delilah & the Bobby Byrd discs at Manships and have a listen! £6 the pair! Rich

Buddy Ace...true Love Money Can`t Buy...duke Demo
Someone snap up the Buddy Ace 45 - One that has disapeared into collections over the years. Thats a good price for a stonkin piece of tough R&B. Use to hear that at the Hyde allnighters and it sounded bloody brilliant. Rich

August Sales
What a cracking list there Karl. (And thnx for the 45s!) For what it's worth here's some recc. 45s at what I consider decent prices! Luther Ingram - Trying to find my love - Koko £10 (Play this bugger loud and tell me you dont love it!) Luther Ingram - Do you love somebody - Koko £5 (The flip 'How I Miss My Baby' - STUNNING) (The above are just superb examples of the very best in southern soul - Believe Rod Dearlove championed his sides a lot) CB Overton - Superstar lady - Shock £6 (Great modern soul) Morris Jefferson - One more time - Good Luck £15 (Again head for the flip - 'Last Time Around For Me' 2 Great sides!) Rich

Shrine 45 Wants (( I Know )) Tough
Not sure Ted to be honest - Dont recall anything been spoke about them at the time after they were put up for sale so you could be right. Rich

Daybreak-everything Man/i Need Love
When they first came out - bidding did go silly for the initial lot - Think there wa a little monkeying around asI dont think they were that limited at all. I'd buy a few from HMV website for 2.99 and sell em on ebay for a tenner Easy peasy - But then people will pay the most ridiculous money for records that are very easily available. (I assume its the earlier ones sold - Can't seem to bring up that specific item) Rich
