  1. True - Didn't think about that - but some of the past auction prices are off too - . Unless its a glitch. Rich
  2. Just checked the finishing prices on JM's site - but not showing the final price? Fair play if John wants to keep winning bids under wraps - but as we are all nosey..... Anyone else? Rich
  3. True Shane - The term mod / modernist I always assumed was from listening to and the scene modern jazz - The book ' Absolute Beginners - later a film with Bowie / Ray Davies - described this scene. The seminal ( in my view - it was my bible in my teens ) - book - MODS - Cant remember the author would also support your points. I always thought northern soul was born out of the fact that the north carried on the real /underground black music scene after mod died off in the late 60s.. But as ever I maystand to be corrected! ATB Rich
  4. On the off chance - a mate was telling me that Beatin Rhythm in Manchester were doing soul packs last year ??? Not even sure anyone does soul packs anymore do they? Might be worth a shout if your looking for a bit of bulk , so to speak. ATB Rich
  5. Paradoxically, Clarence Reid is a staunch, bible-toting Christian, who is quick to call out hypocritical Christians who chastise him for his ways. "Those muthafuckas should all sit on a giant butt plug," he says. "Most of them don't truly understand what the Bible is saying, and some haven't even read the Bible to begin with. I make an example of those muthafuckas every time they try to approach me with that bullshit." Pasted from the link Marc posted. Would love to hear a sermon! Gareth - Possible on details of the track you mentioned - doesn't spring to mind - Will have to check when home. Should have a discography somewhere.... ATB Rich
  6. As I said - was guessing - Seen issues at a ton - thought demos would be far rarer . ATB Rich
  7. Listening to the George Jackson crew 's set on www.soulcast.co.uk - 3rd track in - Clarence Reid's ' Winter Man ' - flip of Funky Party (Alston ) - Love the track - & have quite a bit of the man's output on Minaret / Alston / Like his stable mate at Alston - Betty Wright - think he's a little under valued as an artist IMO. Anyone else a fan ? ATB Rich
