  1. In fact I've contacted an Ebay seller today to tell her that what she was selling was a boot, have to say she was good about it, I showed her mine, will check to see if she's changed or removed it................
  2. Didn't somebody put TMG release of Frank Wilson on Ebay for about £20.000 or somesuch similar ?
  3. I must be pretty dim, what am I missing here ? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TBA-TBA-45rpm-Single-/251498597100?pt=UK_Records&hash=item3a8e7c0aec
  4. There used to be a time when you could contact a buyer after the auction had finished, that was some years ago. I did that a few times back in the "silly days" when people were buying everything and anything and warned them they'd just bought a boot.

There are 2 pictures of the Cooperettes, one showing 4 members and the other with 5 members. Andy Rix has/had one which I think showed a different line up. Scroll down for pic of Copperettes/Dottie & Millie
  6. I bought a record from this seller, a decent price, waiting for it to arrive, we'll see what condition it is, have to agree it's simpler for a buyer to know in advance
  7. Ebay do that because seller would ask a starting price of 0.01 cent/pence then ask £15.00 postage so if the items sold for £5.00 they only get commission on that sum. Now they total the sale price and shipping cost charged and their fees come off the total. As for informing the tax man, I'm registered in Belgium but sell on UK Ebay so the UK tax man can't really touch me, having said that Paypal does inform the authorities for any transactions over €3000.00 per month. One has to remember that about 95% of all that is sold on Ebay is done outside a sales tax regime, a sort of a car boot sale on line. That's fine for small amateur sellers but there are big operations out there buying and selling for gain and need to be treated just like any other trading company. Of course the downside of that is that everybody ends up paying. sound familiar ?
  8. In Belgium...............
  9. Ian I hope I'm going to explain this right. There are 2 types of sellers, those who ship directly to the buyer and those (the new batch) who ship via Ebay's shipping program. If you buy say a £200 record from the former ask them to declare it as $30.00 most will do that. The latter (new batch thus) will declare the real sold value ie £200 and you'll end up paying vat & duty on that sum, it could total 20 - 30% of the sale price. Good luck.
  10. Belgian Popcorn tunes still get covered up, including a female vocal of Sam Fletchers - Think it over.

  14. Has to be "Lonely, lonely girl am I" by the Velvelettes. The arrangements and production are just so awesome, guaranteed to fill any dance-floor. Gets my vote every time.

There a group of people in the UK that were big, big soul fans and either worked for UK record companies like Trevor Churchill or started their own UK labels like John Abbey. Releasing records in the sixties was a lot simpler than maybe nowadays, also in the late 60s a lot of UK record companies started releasing and re-releasing record due to popular punter demand.
