A retrospective Manifesto for the Northern Soul scene
Fortunate that perhaps most of the youth at the time would never had read the Sunday Times , but the secret was out and in the mainstream nonetheless, prior to the article it was the soul based magazines that only spoke of it , is what I was getting at , and then the floodgates burst open . There was definitely a bit more space than usual on the dance floor in the main room on the night in question . As a Manifesto suggestion less promotion in the mainstream is what I was suggesting.

A retrospective Manifesto for the Northern Soul scene
When Red Saunders turned up at the Casino in 76 , and the following Sunday Times supplement was printed , there did seem to be a lot more space on the main room dance floor on the night , but not a lot of room in Mr Ms , not sure if it was because most of the kids in the room where at a sleep over, and didn't want to be found out ,off their heads and didn't want Mum & Dad to see them in that state , or possibly just plain and simple fxxk off leave us alone . I know where I was and the rest of my fellow soulies , upstairs out of site , not wanting any part of it , that was 50 years ago , I know we've been over this a 100 times , but promoters are to blame , they want to make money so they publisize, they invite the reporters even going back to the early days Dave Godin , did anyone ever tell him to do one , No. So maybe it's time to publisize by word of mouth, just like we the punters did in the old days or the relevant associated outlets , noticeboards etc ?

Stateside re-issue label?
I just wish there was more , desirable tunes on Legite labels that the Young guns can afford to buy and enjoy , just like we did and build a collection, without having to use a credit card or borrow from the bank of Mum & Dad

Open your ears and your minds
"Wait A Minit Baby , apart from my bad intro , and it's very late , every tune started off being worth about £1. or so , so really what does it matter if the dance floor is busy or "wait a minute baby " I've danced to this a million times before , I'm hopefully one day going to walk into a venue that plays across the board , dance floor fillers that are just that . Worth a £1 , Who gives a shit . , So was the Montclair's when first played . We all agree that raraty doesn't mean that a tune is great , just desirable, so why not just play a cross section of tunes worth £1. or £100,000 , if they've got that danceabilty ingredient that we all desire , surely that's what it's all about, yes you can have your satellite rooms for what ever style RnB , Lowrider , 60s , 70s 80s, and what other type of soul , that as evolved into Northern soul , but the dancefloor as to be what it's all about , uplifting, happy , and full , or am I "Living In A World Of Fantasy"

Sounds typifying classic venues
I Know , that's what I was getting at , and so should the person who compiled the listing for production and we knock lazy journalism lol

Sounds typifying classic venues
I don't believe Rob Smith played either of the tracks he's credited to have played first in 79 ? Maybe played yes but surely requested.

Wigan Casino’s 50. A pilgrimage you won't regret.
Sorry Frankie , but I think you've solved this subject entirely, "he's hardly been involved in event promotion and record label stuff " , the rest is subjective. Richard and all the other W.C. djs did go on to other events and move with the times . It's not I hope as my Mrs always says " not going to turn into a bitch fest " but I'd like to get these questions off my mind and get a truthful answer , Who rang the press and said , come up to Wigan there's something worth writing about, Who rang ITV etc. Who contacted Pye .( followed by the bloody awful Top of the Pops ) Who decided to start their own C.C. label . Not necessarily in the right order . There's a pattern starting to appear, and it wasn't to keep the thing underground or under the radar I'm Sure .

Wigan Casino’s 50. A pilgrimage you won't regret.
Someone out there , an enterprising soul , seeing that the W.C. seems to have moved to Blackpool, could possibly make a lot of money . Recreate the passage way between the main room and Mr Ms , with live so called punters waiting to roll you of any records you've just bought in the record bar , mug you for what ever money you've left to get home with and possibly nick you're brand new pair of Brogues you saved up for a month to buy as well . On the Pleasure Beach as a kind of walk through Ghost Train , complete with full background sounds and a couple of bouncers looking the other way , say a £5 . including a commenterive car window sticker ,

JMAuction - 20/09/2023 - Results!
Silly idea or not ,, Has anyone ever organised a a collectors list of what records are actually in their collections, print a list of the so called top 500 , ask how many have a copy and then work through the A to Z of top 500 to 1000 . Over the years before the internet , at every Alnighter throughout the country , we where told this is rare , and probably somewhere, someone sat on a hundred box waiting for that tune to go big and then drip feed them into the scene , true or not , there does seem to be an awful lot of tunes like , ILa Vann for instance , You Made Me This Way , £300+ for a record which in the mid 70s was a £3.tune I think I bought mine for £1.30 from Sinfonia in Blackpool, ok bought it and told to keep quiet and don't let Levine know where it came from . I'm sure I'm not the only one on SS , that thinks there are more copies of these so called rare records out there ?

How long should one give a seller to post a record on SS
I recently had the same situation with a seller , who from all his SS feedback was on the ball and 100% , almost 2 weeks passed by , so I like the original poster thought the worse , even after messaging twice . Then out of the blue a message " sorry for the delay I was rushed into hospital things have not been good , but will post asap " , 2 days later and the record arrived , I at first didn't know how to respond , guilt, apprehension ? But at least everything and everyone involved was ok , or I hope he is . I haven't seen anything for sale from this seller since so I hope he's ok. Life can be difficult, hope you get a response Jonko , and a positive result

BBC Radio 6 Music celebrates the 50th anniversary of Wigan Casino with a 'Northern Soul All-Nighter'
I know there are at least 39 live venues happening tonite up & down the country , possibly more but as a BBC event ? , is anyone of the opinion, apart from the obvious out takes , that this ( I'll leave that to your own imagination) is not that bad , so far , more after the proms ,,,

BBC Radio 6 Music celebrates the 50th anniversary of Wigan Casino with a 'Northern Soul All-Nighter'
Probably mixed in with the Wigan hour , as I remember there was a very large section of the hallowed famous sprung dance floor , full of the Wolverhampton/ midlands contingent, where only the first note of a tune packed the floor while the rest of us , waited for the chorus before recognising what the tune was , I can still see Gethro leading the way with his Celtic shirt on ,,,,,
