  1. Evening Roger , Have pmd , Dave
  2. Ede Robin x Soul Symphony, the latter every time , vocal sounds made to fit , was and still is a great instrumental.
  3. " Pretention " I think it was called , my personal favourite from the Mirwood stable , was "The Temptation Walk " instrumental proper floor filler , & for atmosphere " The Spy " The Guys From Uncle , sounded superb back then in the main room .
  4. Hopefully it will be available for all eventually, thanks Eddie
  5. Hi Jmsoul , Is this a one off viewing / event , or will it be shown in other parts of the UK , or via the media ? Looks like a very interesting documentary.
  6. Are you into the inherited 7" soul collection or looking to move it on , if selling make a list and seek help in pricing it all up , or auction via eBay or here , it hasn't cost you anything & others may have them on their wants list , Nothing to lose other than a life time of probably the best music you'll ever hear !!!
  7. Rumour has it , It's the Funk Brothers , playing away from home , cheap as chips , I've got a promo copy cheap as Fish & chips , but a brilliant instrumental non the less , can't recall it being played before 76 , that's when I went further a field , like lots off others until 81
  8. Just read this in today's Far Out by Ben Forrest https://faroutmagazine.co.uk/telephone-receivers-diy-dj history of the telephone headphone.
  9. Just read it , thanks for posting
  10. It grew into an elitist scene , it didn't start out that way , from much earlier posts that is pretty evident .
  11. Irony of the scene , records no one has yet heard played until they became mainstream, & records that slipped through the mainstream played for ever & a day , regardless of quality but rarity.
  12. Big Print Shop , www.bigprintshop.co.uk www.elitesign.co.uk Loads on Google, check if one of the above in your area .
  13. Another happy outcome , & free postage too , get in there 😄
  14. 1 copy on discogs , Tobacco Road Records label £3 .75 only plus postage unfortunately from the States . I think it's a promo copy too
  15. Quite a European influence for a beer brewed in Northampton, Carlsberg / Marston's I believe.
  16. I think under the circumstances, an underground scene which it very much was upto 76 , if a DJ played a record that had a dancefloor appeal you had a choice , dance or wait for the next one . We didn't have the tools or knowledge at the time to consider Soul or not , it was more about the dancefloor, lots of blue eyed soul too many to list here now Bobby Goldboro for one , & Paul Anka , I Can't Help Loving You , albeit covered up , but yes it was a drug fuelled scene , full of kids , lead by older mentors , " this was played at the Torch , Wheel , Catacombs, VaVa's , the Mecca etc but every week we travelled to where ever ,to packed out All nighters more for the buzz than the odd shite record . And the gear wasn't soooooo much better back in the day , unless you had a good supplier, lots of dodgy dealers around at the time , best to source your own .
  17. https://soulbot.uk/wayne-gibson.htm/ Also numerous memories on YouTube claim it to be earlier , I heard it played at the Casino to , to a packed dancefloor was very popular , also featured on Crackerjack ,check out the link .
  18. That's exactly why it's now being debated , when it was first spun probably the Torch or Twisted Wheel , it was probably a UK based label scene , they would not have had the wealth of US labeled sounds , that followed. At the time it was also a scene in infantsy, & records where played for a week or two then dropped, by the time of the Casino most of these type of sounds where oldies , & suddenly got a second lease of life & reissued for one reason or another. Fortunately we're still going strong , & as was said by a prominent promoter / DJ , " We've Separated The Wheat From The Chaff" & so the scene goes on , so we don't have to play this kind of tune anymore , unless requested, still has plenty of likes from people who where there at the time on YouTube , personally would like to hear an instrumental of it 😂
  19. Very very sad news , although I haven't seen him for years I was always aware through the media , just how much he was loved & appreciated on the scene , RIP Ted condolences to family & friends.
  20. Hi Xss, Have pmd
  21. B- side , Up On Top Now , + Instrumental with a bit of Sax , then yes definitely a worthy release .
  22. Controversial ,,,, why ? When there is a finished , polished , totally without any doubt a version that is perfect , available already . Sorry Rob , I don't see the need .
  23. It was never in doubt the sellers status , it was only the fact that buyers are buying Emidiscs wether djs or not that is why I mentioned it . So to the sales of carvers and disguising them that's all .
