The Other Side Of The Record
Bob Jones played Carol Anderson - I'll get off at the next stop on one of his Solar/Horizon shows and it completely blew me away (still one of my all time fav tracks). A quick call to Soul Bowl and it was in the post. I didn't flip it over for about a year and found Sad Girl on the other side.

Genuinely Rare Records
Is that the one that was on ebay a few weeks ago? The seller put quite a write up on it. I had never hear of it until I saw it on ebay. It's the only VOEH record I don't have (I think), but, was a bit too pricy for me once I heard the soundclips.

50 Years Of Stax
It's definately one of my favorite lables, with my prefernce from the years 69-75, when it got more "black", with Hays, Porter, etc taking more control. I also went to an all night do at the Scala Cinema in the late 80's (I think) for a blaxploitation film night + music, with accross 110th Street, Cleopatra Jones and the awsome "Whatstax". I've been trying to get a copy, was it ever released on video or DVD? I think it would be great if we could have a day, where we post up sounds of "the great and the good" as a tribute to 50 years. John

On My Way Up - magnificents - dt 15295 refosoul the 12, although it does say the single verson. There seemed to be a lot of covering of songs and the use of the same backing tracks - Were they skint??

Rarest Soul 12"
Mark, Again you come up trumps. I saw the Lee Morris on 7" of "I got played on" on Alley Cat listed many years ago, but never the 12". I had it on Lee & Co 003, and assumed that it was a leased deal with Alley Cat for wider distribution. But youve shown it's got a a different flip to the Lee & Co release, what's it like? Is this the "Alley Cat" that Charles Wilson was on? John

Rarest Soul 12"
More of a question than a statement. How rare are Funder Cooper - She's All Right and John Donvon - Looking for you (I think it's a 12) as these have been on my wants list for a while and have never seen them come up, or have I just missed them. John

Rarest Soul 12"
I don't think this ones rare as I picked one up last month off of a chicago dealer on Gemm for about £20. I thought it may have been the 12" version (DT103) of "On My Way Up/You Tuned Me On", but it didn't have "You Turned Me On" on the other side as on the 7" (DT104). I've never been that lucky, when it comes to finding rare tunes at knock down prices, but then again it is on Paul Phillips web site, so maybe for once I have been lucky. The J's - When did you stop - Dore. I saw a few on Gemm for about £30. I enquired on here about the difference between the 7" and the 12" (I didn't want a five minute instrumental bit in the middle) as John Manship has the 7" for £100. Once I got some reply posts, they were gone before I could buy. Maybe I should have bought first and asked second. I was also told many years ago that the real 12" version of Jay Player was rarer (fewer around) than the 7", but less in demand, so cheaper in price, which is a shame because the 7" cuts off the middle break which I think is great. Cheers, John

I've been after both of his renissance releases, but only seem to see them in VG or less condition. Dave, If you've got both, how much do you want for the pair? John
