  1. only a fool would argue with john and rob when it comes to things like this
  2. hardly off topic, but anyway, bottom line is, bootlegging of currant releases did go on in the states in the 50's and 60's, getting records pressed back then was very cheap, its still relativley cheap nowdays, theres a pressing plant that advertises on here that will do you 200 45's for 500 quid
  3. hmmmmm, thats a tough one, i think we should have a poll and put it to the vote, anyway shouldn't you be swinging on the end of a paint brush, its half nine
  4. yes they would and did take the risk, as did raynoma gordy when she pressed up motown stuff
  5. thats what i said dave
  6. it wouldn't have been booted retrospectivly for the northern scene, it would have been booted at time of release, as were a lot of records in the u.s. a lot of beatles on capitol are boots, if you were a distributor / or owner of a couple of record shops why buy stock in when you can press them up yourself and keep all the profit, i think the general concensus of opinion regarding this ric tic release when last discussed on here was that it was a bootleg originating from the pitsburgh area
  7. hmmmm, and they turned up in 1976 / 77 when coloured vinyl was all the rage

  10. i remember back in the early 80's ian had loads of copies, he even took out an advert in new blackbeat magazine advertising them at £12 each, much to the annoyance of keb darge, who he'd sold a copy to a couple of weeks earlier for 50 quid, there was also a guy who had a shop in reading (i think his name was pete) who had quite a few copies he was punting them out at a tenner
  11. thats correct, rob had one of the alternative versions cut onto a acetate, he got it off someone who was involved in goldmine / soul supply who had the masters for the forthcoming "groovesville masters" series of cd's, the version that rob played later came out on a goldmine 7's 45
