  1. RIP, Your Family's songs were from the heart, I'm sure St Peter was waiting at the gates for you and greeted you with the words "If your ready, come go with me"
  2. I've seen them Chalky, some crackers there. Who has intellectual property of them? For instance could I snatch them and get them over to Elaine? Such an opportunity for this era to be seen
  3. It needs to come with a CD of people loudly chattering b'locks down your ear for 8 hours to give the complete experience.
  4. Tell you what I'd like to see in this ( although that counts for nowt). Pictures of true charecters such as Gaz Kellet, Ozzie, Pete Lawson, Phil Worral etc in full chaotic flow. people like that made the 80s early 90s for me. kept us all on our toes
  5. Put my order in yesterday, the 1st 2 were great, and there's a couple of stunning tracks on this one. Well worth listening to the clips on the website.
  6. Saw this on bookface, They're going to cover early days up to the present and for once are actually going to cover the 80s as well, about time someone can actually admit there was a thriving scene then. Mainly looking at late 60s 70s and 80s but say will cover all eras.
  7. I got a plain white paper copy off Pete, circa '92
  8. Shame it's about that aspect of his life and not the 'wall of sound' innovations in the '60s.
  9. looks like it could be good, good cast.
  10. when I was a sound & lighthing tec for FLC night clubs we used both DAT and MD! I still use MD to record the DJs who do a spot on the sunday soul afternoon I run in sheffield, theres about ten DJs so as a thankyou I put their set on CD so they can have a listen! Nigel&Elaine long live vinyl
  11. What a sad loss. Inspirational music, from the 60s Blue Note albums - A New Perspective is a personal favourite - through all the great collaborations with Larry and Fonze Mizell in the 70s and beyond. Donald Byrd was constantly innovating at the highest level of musicianship yet always kept one ear on the dancefloor. Both with Duke Pearson in the 60s and the Mizell brothers later on, Donald produced some of the greatest jazz music and greatest dance music ever made. Thank you Donald and RIP.
  12. It's not over yet volume 2 is getting ready to set the world alight. I'm made up this has charted Lorraine
  13. Did the Sandpiper too mate ( was at the Dickies gig) but mainly the Jacksdale Topper. Used to do Palais alldayers up to 7ish then jump on the bus to Jacksdale to see the like of the members, subs, angelic upstarts etc
  14. I'd concur with Jock wholeheartedly and also add that I continue to be impressed with Ace's mailing. I ordered on line early last week only to receive the Etta James comp despatched by mistake a day or two later. e mailed Ace and their despatcher, Phil Stoker, mailed correct order which arrived the following day. Nice one Phil. Pete
  15. W&W is probably my all time favorite group, I love all their 12 inch singles. Thank You Cecil. Vila i frid
  16. Question ? Would anyone of bought the next 2 Soul Junction 45's schedule release's, should they have been outputted during the eighties. They are weak, fragile, lyrically insipid fodder. Will people buy these because of the folk's who are behind Soul Junction or fall foul of it's marketing and the supply to "pat on the back"radio shows DJ's. Appreciation or label sycophants.

  18. 'Don't shut me out' is heartbreakingly beautiful. From time to time, it still amazes me that someone with such a wonderful voice can pretty much escape the mainstream attention and opportunities offered to many with far inferior talent in the music industry. RIP Ms. Lands x
  19. oh that is sad. Poor Linda. RIP Mr. Womack
  20. Picked up a copy in Tokyo today...fabulous informative sleeve-note, as per usual...congratiulations Ady. Don't 'spose the instrumental of, 'Chink A Chank Baby' was on the tapes by any chance...would like to wrap my ears around that if it does exist/can be mixed down! Roll on vol.II.
