  1. Thanks Pete I've wasted a whole morning watching your excellent Vids. My manager is still hovering.............. Forgot about Lesley Dawson if my memory serves me right Iain Stewart discovered it ( if lt was really that lost ) On of his 'junking' trips. And it arrived at Wigan via Al Sazz..... It brings back great memories of sitting at home on a Saturday evening playing loads of interesting looking British stuff (most of it awful) from the junk shops of East London & funding trips up t'norf on the profits. Keep up the good work mate much appreciated.
  2. Fantastic piece mate I think I'll spin this at Stoke on Saturday regards Simon.
  3. Thanx Dave,i didnt read the pages about the group in your site until now, great article.
  4. Sad news. Clarence had been ill for some years. Rest in peace. Paul
  5. Tell them they owe me royalties, and I want my school report back :-)
  6. Pied Piper - excellent pedigree, great productions.....and so the story twists and turns 45 years down the line.
  7. Same here, not much ever comes to Hull though! BUT... before anyone starts.... I WOULD travel to see it!
  8. Went to see it twice....first at Greenwich in London....then the last performance at Coventry...followed by a soul night....to celebrate the end performance...was brilliant..and still the best production..about the scene..captured it too a tee..would luv it ...if it ever came back to the theatre again......xxxxx
  9. Saw it in Mansfield a few years ago. Small cast but a nice story line and some great music used for the sound track. Seemed to hear Rita & the Tiara played out a lot more around this time which may have been due to it being included in the play. The theatre was rammed, which gave the whole thing a brilliant atmosphere. Would definitely go to see it if it has a rerun. Martin
  10. You need to read this Pete, another revenue stream for you? https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-14980733
  11. REGARDS 'The Rat Catchers'....yeah, even the title sounds positively Dickensian....
  12. f*ck me, what a shame!!!! you know what PETE, i just got back from Rosehill and walked past the old St Helier Hospital where OLLIE REED worked before he became a movie star and I kept thinking about the Brill Building and that bloody record and the sound and thinking where the f*ck did they manage to pull that off in England and how come the bloody birds were not then on every single Columbia/Hmv/Parlophone/Pye record ever made instead of all those other english back up Girls and I just could not square it all - was driving me mad - then I get back in here and you say that lol
  13. Top Vids & Work Paul. A wonderfull enterprise ! ATVB Chris
  14. Yes I did see it, but we were hard into a battle then! Yeah, it's a good idea...enjoyed them both, now when is Part 2 of Episode 2 on?
  15. Very entertaining - shame about that sticking on the marvelous KNIGHT BROTHERS record! Yeah I would agree, that ELEENA record is without a doubt the best ever british attempt at a bona fide Girly sound, you'd bet money on it being an american record all day...got to be honest as well, the HELEN SHAPIRO one is a nice record, never been keen on her biggie, but had the other one been discovered as an ultra rare Philly record it would be 'hailed'....do you know what PETE, watching this is making me regret selling my 60s pop collection...I had about 5-600 immaculate 45s, a few on here, some rare, some not so rare, just a teally nice collection but succumbed to my ex-Mrs's complaints about records and sold'em over a year to keep her off my back as regards my Soul records...wish I had'em back now...BUCKINGHAMS is a lovely record, very sexy JERRY JACKSON demo... Take it 'chocolate rolls' will be on Episode two Part Two?
  16. Looking forward to watching this when I get home (no access tho streaming media/podcasts etc at work unfortunately). Last one was great, and I actually learned a couple of things! Glad to see The Buckinghams, Slade (didn't Dave Hill live near your nan?), and The Mysterians in there, I'm interested to see what you have to say about them! Keep up the good work, you never know who's watching.....
  17. I loved it, we went to see it twice when it was on in Leeds.

  20. Brilliant! So is the Cavaliers track the blinding "Without Someone To Tell Me" by any chance? Cheers......Pete
  21. There is a phrase - Everybody has a book in them. It relates to the human instinct of story telling that goes back as far as language in every human culture in the world. Some people will be good, others great, and the masses pretty ropey. In Elaine's case we already have an accomplished story teller through her photographic work. Anyone who has seen her work can make up their own narrative to the pictures. In this film Elaine is getting the chance to tell her experience of the Northern Soul scene. And unlike Soul Boy (which I thought was OK), Elaine is going to be telling the story from within so to speak. Rather than an outsiders cliched view. I think as has been said by many already. If anyone is going to do a job that rises above the rest, it is going to be someone like Elaine, who is telling the story with her own passion. Rather than getting an eclectic mix of stories and attempting to cobble them together. My reference would be Paul Sadot's play one night in Wigan. Again Paul wrote that play from his perspective and experience of decades of love for the Northern Soul scene. And the results were second to none IMO. I was as sceptical about Soul Boy as I am excited about Elaine's work. Even if it is the best thing ever set to celluloid about Northern Soul, I cant see Elaine being able to buy the mansion next to Joan Collins' island in the West Indies. So the criticism about 'cashing in' is surely mute. But while maybe not financially rich, if Elaine does pull it off, she can 'consider herself a millionaire'.
  22. can i play the lead Joe ? a mad Scots alchoholic with a chip on his shoulder traveling up and down the UK to various Soul Allnighters in the UK CIRCA 2011 ?
  23. I'm getting a strange tingling sensation in my groin (which is unusual these days!) thinking there might be a Pied Piper treat on the anniversary single this year..
  24. Cracking short clip mace, thanks I Like It...Like that!
