I think the article mentioned those mainstream artists because those are the only ones 'the great unwashed' have heard of (from a UK perspective anyway). One guy at work is a massive Helen Shapiro fan and was amazed at her name being mentioned!

Popped into my local record store today, vedor had some new bits and pieces that never really interested me, then he spins this UK Goldmine demo of The Asassins - Nicer Girl (Philadelphia recording)...what a stormer and potential monster! The group sound like The Agents so could be a c/up. What I want to know is..., Is this a previously unreleased track? Has it been out on any Goldmine vinyl before? How come I aint ever heard it cos' IT IS THAT GOOD!!

Well, put my claim in and what do you know...I get a begging e-mail off him today! Promises me that if I withdraw the claim he'll post the records.... Told him to spin...."send the records and the claim is history"!!!! Fair deal I think. Waiting for reply...

have you tried the flip of 'Come On Home'....'My Eyes Break Out In Tears' is one of his best Northern tunes!!! Full on atmospheric stomper with breaks.

Ok Soulman, I agree with you totally so am gonna start proceedings. From what I can remember, paypal gives the seller a chance to respond first anyway. Sounds to me like he owes money to ebay for selling fees etc and he's using OUR money to pay these off!!

Thanks for that soulman, I've still got a few weeks grace before putting a claim in via paypal so will give him 'till then to sort it out. If he doesn't come up with the goods, no amount of begging is gonna stop the claim going through. Btw, he actually sent me A LETTER through the post! What a f****** waste of stamp, envelope etc.....just stick the records in the post!!!!!!!!!!

Well, wouldya know it! I got a letter from them (Group Records, Mamie Giattino) this morning asking me if I have put a claim against them on paypal to please withdraw it and then they'll send my tunes (yeah right!)..Well, for starters, I aint put a claim in against them (yet) so why waste time sending me a letter when he may just as well posted my records!!!

Billy Keane also released on Paula, dunno which release came first though.

Update: Got an e-mail at last off Mamie & Joe this morning, apparently they owe some funds to ebay and are suspended until paid up. They have promised all records will go out on Friday. Interesting about the Prix stuff Sean, the Joe King & Eddie Ray are 2 brilliant tunes!! John

Yes, 2 items were paid via my paypal account. So I suppose if it all goes tits up I can claim off paypal? Gotta give them a chance first though, they may have been suspended from ebay because they listed a dodgy item (ie. Madonna promo etc). E-mailed them 3 times so far, no answer.

Got a message from ebay (loss prevention department) advising me to contact an ebay seller from which I recently purchased 2 records off (Voice Masters, Equators...2 early Motown 45s). Ebay have closed them down and said I should take action to get my money back (I paid via paypal)...i'm really at a loss as to what to do, I only won them last week! Anyone else had anything off them lately, they had a good listing last week on ebay which included Temptations - Mother Of Mine (Miracle), Eddie Ray (Prix) and Royal Esquires (Prix)... from memory. Proprieter is Mamie Glattino, email grouprecords@aol.com. (got a feeling their address is listed as 'Sin City'). Tried emailing them several times, no answers yet! Basically, I can't claim cause the items no longer exist!! Can I claim straight from Paypal then? Just wondered who else has received this kind of message from ebay....???? John
