Well, a kosher one is gonna cost anything between £60/2000 maybe more as it's in-demand (again!). I got offered a snyde one for £50 and the seller knew it was a boot but that's what he wanted for it, I did see a boot for sale not too long ago for around the £40 mark. I did eventually get a counterfeit off a mate because I needed it for a group member, I must say it was spot on, looked the business and sound quality was great. The way to spot a boot is no official stamp in the run out groove.

Beware the good looking counterfeit, even that goes for a tidy sum!

I must admit, I foresaw the demise of the CD single a few bloody years ago! The CD single is virtually the same as the CD album but not with as many tracks on it! Nobody wants them, they'd rather have the whole CD album. My missus is a great CD lover and hardly ever bought a CD single, she alway's waited for the album to come out. I don't think the CD album will die out and be replaced by mp3's, for some maybe, but most people want something physical that they can hold in their hands and look at/read (the booklets you get with CD albums are great). Vinyl is SEXY and always will be, my 2 teenage daughters love the L.Ps (they're not too keen on the 45's) and one is already going on about buying some decks when she gets her own pad, competition!! Go into HMV and you can buy almost any current album in vinyl format.

Anyway, that aside, I now see where you're coming from re- Alt take, which usually means an alternate take to the artists' own cut/still in the can version! You ask if my album only Cds come from my own collection, the answer is definitely yes! You ask Perry about my soul/motown/reggae/ska L.P collection....probably the finest in East Anglia (apart from yours.... ). I look forward to your CD mate and I've p.m'd my address to you ok. That reminds me of a book I picked up recently about Wigan Athletic Football Club, it quotes that Wigan is more famous for 'Northern Soul' than football! I had to laugh.

Ok Johnny, Great CD from what I can see, as a lover of 33's myself and always on the lookout for 'album only' tracks. One question though...On the Temptations - who you gonna run to, Kiki Dee - more today... & Jackie Wilson - my heart is calling.....you've put 'alt version'.......of what? I ask in anticipation! As these were not released anywhere else (or were they?) Got another L.P by Lou Christie from a car boot few years back 'Lightning Strikes' MGM with a great version of the Motown evergreen '(Love Is Like a) Heatwave'.

Original is vinyl with moulded label. The boot is styrene with stick on label (lighter shade of blue).

Yeah, good one (like your J.J.Jameson avatar, being a Marvel fan myself!), try finding a copy of that L.P nowadays for £1.99.

Depends which boot you are on about? The 70's 'fooled a lot of people' stamped one goes for £25 upwards, the more recent one obviously a lot less.

Interesting to note the instrumental flip is being played on the Northern Soul scene. What's the Instrumental flip called? Can you put an mp3 of it up? Be nice to hear it. Great site by the way, some groups that definitely crossed over to the Soul sound. John

Presume you mean the Ashford one, not the boot on Awake!??? What would that go for on the bay? There are definitely some real collectors bootlegs wants and fairly hard to get (like the Eddie parker): Lenny Curtis (very good quality black/white End styrene press), Magicians on Chartmaker (Servicemen), John & Wierdest (gets a few people fooled, but will still go for good money even if they know it's not kosher).

I have 2 by them both on Pacific but both different shades (light blue/ mid blue & white) and different paper texture. Don't have 'Instant Love' but they were a fairly popular group and would guess that the label got pressed up at different plants? All great tunes by them by the way!

Was a legit re-release with an unissued Linda Jones tune on the flip by Warner Brothers.
