Anarchy In The World Of Record Collecting?
I think now there is a lot more volatility in the prices as stuff goes in and out of fashion. I think before the price guides were out, ebay was similar, an item could go for $500 one day and $12 the same day. It puts experienced collectors who can pick out good records for cheap in an advantageous position. The price guides had the function of fixing the price, to some extent. Now that there isn't a very current one (and that there are so many different scenes to document) it's like there's not a guide. The funniest is Osborne's guide, which was written at the absolute peak of prices, the worst UK-US exchange rate, and even taking that into account, has higher prices than any UK guides.

Vashons We'll Be Together
The Vashons are LA. It is definitely the same song. I'm not sure who stole from whom. Vashons has Tinadele publishing on it which is obviously one of the big LA publishers at the time.

Fluorescent Smogg For Sag War Fare
sniping instead of bidding early removes a lot of the impatience and stupidity from the equation what does "neutralize"ing the record mean? @Steve, I never knew the SAG thing, thanks for the info

Vashons We'll Be Together
I like the Marvellos version on Loma. Not sure which one came out first.

T.j. Fowler - Taste Pt 1/ Pt2 - Puff
the one negative about the ebay DSRs for me as a buyer is that even though it significantly improved the condition of records that I buy, nobody will put up trashed records because even if they grade them poor they will get low DSRs. Some records are rare and I would prefer getting them trashed than not at all.

Uniques "give Me Another Chance" Esar - Value?
if it's as rare as that you can offer it as a private sale to a heavy collector without risking ebay

I Found This Interesting Paris ( The Whoosie) Sleepless Nights
they took away the "send message" button from the user's personal page. You still can send them messages by going to your messages and composing a new message and putting the user's youtube ID as the recipient.

I Found This Interesting Paris ( The Whoosie) Sleepless Nights
I've actually had the confusion between 80s Parises. Paris on Kelli Arts is Paris Holley. There's another 80s Paris record, a cover of love makes the world go round, produced and recorded in detroit. I have no idea if it's the same person. There is another Paris soul record, a singer who had one single on Uni in like 1969 and who had an unreleased Uni LP. At least that Paris is chronologically closer.

Two Tracks, What Are They?
was this one of the things that jimmy radcliffe's son was selling copies of here?

Uniques "give Me Another Chance" Esar - Value?
maybe you already did this, but i imagine people at a funk forum would have a better idea. the popsike entries are funny because the late 2009 sale copied the text from the 2006 sale, including text about how the record will be included on an upcoming ace/kent comp.

The Montereys
small mistakes / title variations don't make a real difference in value unless it's a super in demand record, especially if the actual recording is the same.

Mr Manships Auction Results 6-6-2012
I also have a huge stack of failed gambles -- e.g. people selling hard rock, country, or other music not even remotely soulish as soul

Mr Manships Auction Results 6-6-2012
I would agree, except instead of saying "baffled" I would say "pleasantly surprised". That's what I live for on ebay, obscuro stuff that may or may not be good. It's like gambling except you are also making an informed choice. The people selling that stuff often can't even judge what is good or not anyways, and they're often junker dudes so you're gambling on condition, packing, etc. What pisses me off is when real record dealers put up one side of the record (say a mediocre funk side) and refuse to put up or even answer questions about the other side.
