  1. The consumption of shed loads of gear also had a significant effect in terms of how we perceived our own dancing skills and the moves of others on the floor. I am obviously reminiscing. . Peter
  2. I'm with Andy on this one. The scene has had some great dancers, some good dancers, lots of average dancers and some shite dancers. Obviously, I was brilliant mesen. What sets the soul scene apart in my view is the love of the music - not some purist pursuit of perfect dance moves. As for the the "acro" or tricks as they used to be callled - I fecking hated all that shit, and was pleased when the majority of people knockeed it on the head. If I'm honest I was shit at "floor work" anyway. I am sure there will be many that disagree. Peter
  3. Best times musically for me buddy - loved to dancing. And I concur regarding Arthur and Sam - always been high on my list. Peter
  4. You win some you lose some Arthur. J D Jones is a nice enough record - and like you say you needed it at the time. Peter
  5. I reckon it was Sir Dickie Pete. A few others too not long after. It was a huge record and deservedly so. I used to sing a couple of odd lines at home at me mams over and over again. "Don't you know any other words to that bloody song" she used to shout. "No mam". Well it's driving me mad yer little bastard"! LOl Peter
  6. I'm afraid all I can offer is "You lucky bugger"! Have a great time buddy. Peter
  7. Swifty You know what happens when you get excited! Walking down Aswell Stree, the sky is blue the air is sweet. There's a guy called Pete.............................. You barsteward! LOL Peter
  8. Ay up Ali i agree they are both great sides but..........................Back in the day there was only one side I Need Love. Played along side some of the best 70's and 80's ever played. Peter
  9. Yep, I thought that too.
  10. Lovely record Keith. Top notch soul music. Peter
  11. The issue isn't too shabby and or cheap either. It's a great record Aid - in my top ten easily. P
  12. Got most of them - although I neglected them badly, chucked about in the car and cases cracked an broken etc. Very good cd's with some great modern soul on em. Peter
  13. Good lad Chalkmeister. Peter
  14. Hi Mark https://www.discogs.com/Lew-Kirton-Robert-Winter-Band-Heaven-In-The-Afternoon-L-O-V-E/release/3694209 Peter
  15. Did you time them with your anorak on or off Dave? Peter
  16. Including inside my head some nights! The paranoia was really bad some times. Peter
  17. Oy! I know of the Clifton Hall guys - I frequented the place in my misspent youth - great all niter. I know not of the 60's lot. Peter
  18. Are these the same as the Preston Street dancers? P
  19. He was always smiling! I never really knew him - he was one of the "older lads" and a dj. Whenever I see a picture of him he has that look of a proper, down to earth, old fashioned type yorkshire lad. I'm not really sure what I mean by that but it's meant as a compliment. Peter
  20. Cheers Pete Not heard that for donkeys. Trad North - not a bad record.
  21. What record is that Chalkster? Peter
  22. I think he was a trad northern dj thinking back. Things like Night of the Wolf are emerging from the fogginess! Could be totally wrong of course. Peter
  23. Interesting thread Patto. I thought exactly the same when reading the Bub birthday thread a short while ago. I saw the old lad dj a bit at Cleethorpes Winter Gardens and can't for the life of me remember what he use to play. Peter
  24. Both good spins Sean I suspect that the Cut Glass is somewhat easier and should be about £20 on 20th Century. I have the 12 which goes on a bit! Peter
  25. I'm not sure if mine or Danny's paths crossed - you never know who you know over the years. Anyway, that mattters not and I am sorry to hear that he has passed away. Bless you Danny boy. Peter
