One I've been spinning for the last few years. Absolutely love this - stunning soul music. Wonderful lyrics as he pays tribute to Bobby Womack, Al Green, James Brown and Marvin - clever stuff. I suspect he wrote a few of those. Peter

George's southern accent just oozed soul - even when he was just speaking. He was one hell of a cool guy. I love some of the pictures of him which have been used over the years - even in his senior years he was the man! Peter

Yes, 28 is no age is it. From things I've read she had diabetes and died at home in between shows. For someone so young the girl left some musical legacy which is clearly appreciated by many. Her voice lives on. Peter

Bit of a belated post! I love the Kenny Gamble Phil - top drawer soul/dance record in my opinion. I haven't heard it for ages. I mentioned it a while ago on another thread and the record was dissed! I never knew it was such an opinion splitter - mind you plenty of folk about who wouldn't know a good record if it poked em in the eye! Peter

Richie Havens is getting some exposure and plays at the minute. And rightly so - it has that magical something about it. Spyder Turner is great too and up until quite recently I didn't know of the Richie version which I understand is the original.
