  1. It wasn't Ian! I just assumed that we all knew it was Laura - kind of implicit like. Peter
  2. Dusty did not record Moonlight Music and You
  3. Fecking hell Simsy old lad - I think we had worked that one out Sherlock! LOL Peter
  4. Thanks for that link Dean. Peter

  6. See, I know how to build a set! LOL Peter
  7. I concur - fantastic soul record. Peter
  8. That made me smile mate. Well worked out! P
  9. That's what I said Sebastian! Peter
  10. Was it you or someone else who posted this on a different thread recently? I really like it and said on the other thread that the intro reminded me of this - and it still does! Peter
  11. Judy Freeman is a bang on oldie Aid. Not sure I know the Rose Royce track - very much of the time. Nice. Peter
  12. One I've been spinning for the last few years. Absolutely love this - stunning soul music. Wonderful lyrics as he pays tribute to Bobby Womack, Al Green, James Brown and Marvin - clever stuff. I suspect he wrote a few of those. Peter
  13. George's southern accent just oozed soul - even when he was just speaking. He was one hell of a cool guy. I love some of the pictures of him which have been used over the years - even in his senior years he was the man! Peter
  14. Here's a tribute from drewid Peter
  15. One of my favourite writers, producers and performers - by miles. Sad news indeed. Thank you George for your wonderful legacy. You opened up my heart Sir. Peter
  16. Yes, 28 is no age is it. From things I've read she had diabetes and died at home in between shows. For someone so young the girl left some musical legacy which is clearly appreciated by many. Her voice lives on. Peter
  17. I know and hear where you're coming from Richard. I don't know too much about Linda to be honest. Always been a big fan of JCLML and ISGIFY and know a few others but the thread - like so many others, has been a learning curve. Nice one. Peter
  18. As a "Trad Northern" tune it's as good as anything in my book. Great driving dancer. These days I'm mainly 70's mid tempo man - but this would get me dancing. Peter
  19. Hi John Absolutely lovely record - new to me my friend. Thanks Peter
  20. Hi Richard Nice one. It's great isn't it. Very simple and understated - but lovely. Peter
  21. Bit of a belated post! I love the Kenny Gamble Phil - top drawer soul/dance record in my opinion. I haven't heard it for ages. I mentioned it a while ago on another thread and the record was dissed! I never knew it was such an opinion splitter - mind you plenty of folk about who wouldn't know a good record if it poked em in the eye! Peter
  22. Richie Havens is getting some exposure and plays at the minute. And rightly so - it has that magical something about it. Spyder Turner is great too and up until quite recently I didn't know of the Richie version which I understand is the original. Nice set with regards to the drink too buddy - just building and building! I've been playing some 70's tonight and dippping into the SS Record of the Day (Daves thread) Peter
  23. Interesting thread about a record I never knew existed. Not a bad version is it - but Larry Santos is a storming dance record which would be difficult for anyone to better. Peter
  24. Sounds like Barry Manilow in cabaret. Peter
  25. I have never been able to get one in my style or fit. I'll go and get me coat now. Peter
