  1. Carnival! It sure was Sean! An interesting question about the acceptance of new release material - or rather the mass acceptance of new release stuff. Probably mid to late eighties. I know I harp on about Cleggy and Clifton Hall but the punters at these venues were living the dream in terms of music ,as I know some of the DJ's were - you included Sean. There were lots of us too - Hull, Lincs, Notts, Yorks, Lancs etc - we couldn't get enough and were as open minded as anyone on the scene then - and since. I'm mixing this particular track up with something else - which I now can't get out of my head - it's not the track I was thinking of which is on an old tape Gav did for me ages ago. It's so annoying - it'll come to me. "There's a place we can go, where we can love one another" tra la la - "Over and Over" Anyone who can put me out of my memory will get a big brownie point!
  2. Proph posted it on the Levine thread - on one of the last few pages.
  3. The fat bastard is 60! That reminds me - I've got to ring him.
  4. Mm - quite simple I guess - now you mention it Rachel. Agree - it's a top tune.
  5. Always been intrigued by the lyrics on this.
  6. That's how I like to pace myself Ian. Sounds like a page from Fear and Loathing!
  7. Yes Pete. I've never heard that additional verse take. Hopefully Proph will post it up later.
  8. Really look forward to hearing the longer, unreleased Dore version. I've always loved this record - northern soul of the highest order. Definitiely in my top ten of all time.
  9. Cheers mate. That clarifies it. Always plenty to learn.
  10. I agree Malc - it's a creditable enough job. I don't particularly like the drum machine etc. However, I'm pretty sure I've never heard at least one of the verses in this version. Are we saying that there were two original takes on Dore - a longer and shorter version? I'm confused. Phroph has now clarified Malc
  11. I appreciate this is Ian's mix - I never knew there was a "longer" original take and this is one of my favourite sixties tunes. Do you have any more info on the longer version? This may be a stupid question but I've never heard of it.
  12. Am I loosing the plot or does that have loads of additional lyrics?
  13. Never went - it sounds like a fookin barn stormer of a night!
  14. It's bought a tear to my eye this. It's heartbreaking. You just never know.
  15. Poor Maddy - after all these years you've fookin dumped her! Dirty little fecker!
  16. This was booted wasn't it Harry? My posts keeps bumping the thread if nothing else!
  17. It was a mammoth labour of love and I, like many others on here, hope there is some form of success for the effort.
  18. Absolutely stunning. And after all the plays, for all those years it's still a fookin tune to be reckoned with.
