  1. Think that was 96 Chalky, the year after Doris Troy and my first visit, not missed since,
  2. Correct Tony, on the 'reach out' Demo being the first 'real' green and white demo, Pete
  3. MAK, Does the fact Mark missed the 'E' off the end not tell you he really doesn't know too much? And i reckon you could go into any public place (away from NS) and ask who sang those two particular songs, and you would be very hard pressed to get ANY correct answers, so why is it so suspicious that somebody would want to know a couple of titles from their youth? i would go as far to say there's plenty ON the scene (away from SS) that know the words all the way through to the Flirtations track, but would struggle to come up with the artist name, note i said plenty and not majority, The fella asked a couple of questions regarding his brief 'flirtation' (no pun intended lol) with soul music many years ago, why can't his questions just be answered and have done with it? What we take for granted as a classic is still unknown to the majority of the rest of the world, Pete Eccles
  4. Just what i was thinking, if he's genuine i don't think we will see him again, and i don't blame him, If a 'wind up' is suspected theres no prizes for 'guessing' as such, surely better to take the comments and questions on face value and move on?
  5. And me Ed just in case
  6. Great double sider Nige, hope you get sorted
  7. Hi Pete, just spoke to Donna (Smalley then) from the plodder lane area of farnworth, she went to Wigan, and the carousel etc with a gang of girls and went to school with a Caroline Shoesmith, never heard of Julia, went to school and grew up with Caroline but unfortunately although Donna has never really left the 'scene' she hasnt seen Caroline since about 1980, Not much help Pete Eccles

  16. Paul, Prestwich has been running on a monthly basis for around 9 years, 2 rooms, modern and northern, ive missed 2 nights since it started, and in all that time i bet ive not spent a hour in the modern room when totalling all my visits in there, totally different night out and so i'm reliably informed, and from looking in from the outside when in the record bar which is between the two rooms its always packed with a completely different crowd from the 'main' room, that for those into modern soul its as good as it gets, Just sayin it can be done and done very successfully, but the music policy miles apart, Pete
  17. Respect and kind of agree with most of your comments, but isn't it just a possibility that sounds you are tired of others see as fresh and sounds that inspire you to find a copy others see as tired? the point i'm tryin to make is if 'moses smith' is filling the floor at an event that promotes that kind of policy then fair play, theres plenty of nights/events geared towards playing unknown/semi unknown music, ive been at many nights when a record is played and heard simultaniously 'not this again' and 'love this what is it? A case of hoping an event does what it says on the tin, and then making the choice of returning or not, not trying to change what is possibly a successful formula for that particular night, Lastly too many now seem to detatch themselves from the paying public with the dreadful term that is 'punters' it seems everyone these days isn't a 'punter' as if those that are out to be entertained/educated are a different breed of animal, Not directed wholly at you Trev but just a case of one persons tired oldie could be another persons all time fave or even another persons fresh sound, and if any event is getting the numbers through the door on a regular basis then they are doing something right and delivering a service that those numbers are willing to pay for (punters)
  18. Got one last week off the bay 7 USD, great tune!
  19. Quality Stuart , Once had somebody preaching 'why can't people move on' to me at a venue, then ran to the dancefloor at the sound of 'the love i lost' intro, on their return i mentioned the said track is hardly a case of moving on, reply - ' i know but thats a good un'
  20. If you have to think/ask about it, in other words if in doubt, don't bother,
