The 1st press is really tough to find,i know a few turned up 2/3 years ago, that`s when i got mine after a long wait. Great record ,giving this a ten .

When people start to resort to this, then it`s time to get help, this is when you`ve hit rock bottom . . Sorry but records are great and that but stealing to fund a habit is a no no. By the way i think this is a good thread . I know people(no names) who have bought on a hugh scale and got themselves into a financial mess, some are still paying off there debts now. It does become obsessive and an addiction ,it`s trying to balance between keeping family etc sweet and having an hobby .I remember when i started collecting, used to go £30 max for everything then stepped up for a big want paying £40 for Gloria Scott lp/£50 Starvue and thinking i`m barking mad. It`s when i got Timeless Legend for £200 that things went downhill .

I would like to go as well but not paying them silly prices,i can pick up a some cheap 45`s for £100 .
-
They were £62 in the week at Royal Albert Hall, can`t see this being a sell out can you?

Personally i don`t see the point of most mash ups/re-edits,most of the records done were perfect 1st time round so play the original. Now if there`s a long rap or van halen style guiter `white noise` moment or the song was good but singer not too clever. ,Fine do a edit or update the song. Also it`s a bit lazy on the dj`s part when there`s always good new Modern soul records newly released/original written etc which are dance floor friendly but might need a bit of work getting the crowd into it.Surely that`s the art/skill of a good dj .Even if new material is a bit flat, you can also dip into the collection for great records a few years old or some that got missed by most etc. . For me it`s about buying old records you missed and supporting the new artists who have the bottle/luck to make / good new material that will hold the test of time.

Soul Source Grading System Not Working For Me
Hammersoul replied to Pete S's topic in Look At Your Box
Personally i don`t really care if sellers uses ex or vg,bottom line for me ; will i be happy with it. Key in buying is knowing the sellers grading standards, some overgrade, some under.Downside of buying off collectors or small sellers especially on here who only post now and again is having to send a message to make sure record is up to my standard.I think that was what Pete was trying to get at? The other problem sellers have is: i`ve had mint looking records crackle, pop where maybe previous owner or before that used a knackered needle or record was badly/ cheaply pressed. I`ve also had visually looking vg-/vg+ play perfect/sound mint. So do we go down looks= plays= cos those that deal in lots of records won`t never get much else done lol . Bottom line is no one can be perfect. -
Arthur Rollins Jr. - Wherever You Go - Lavender Lady
Hammersoul replied to Sharlow45's topic in Look At Your Box
Think i`ll reactivate this for ya now i have found a copy . Took me 3 years plus to find/even see a copy so it`s a tough one. Great double sider and one i think a few collectors will want or are looking for. Funny enough after a 3 year plus wait 2 turned up on ebay a few months ago in a space of a week and i got the cleaner copy.Maybe now a few more might start to surface now there`s info re price out there. . Written /arranged by Jimmy Briggs who did some great stuff on Sussex. -
It`s a tough one to get in vg++/m- but they are out there(i have a mint/no wol copy) . i have both her 45`s in good nick but it took a while.i take it your talking about the Moira copies?

Soul Source Grading System Not Working For Me
Hammersoul replied to Pete S's topic in Look At Your Box
Personally i like/use the vg/mint grade, sadly some sellers either are too busy and get it wrong or try and pull a fast one or there tone deaf and don`t hear crackles . Have to say Pete your ex is my mint minus ,Just a shame you don`t find enough of my wants . I`ve found a lot of the uk sellers/collectors on here undergrade as a rule,i`ve had vg+ which play/look mint and i leave that in feedback to help out other collectors. For me vg++ should mean it`s been played but plays mint with a few scuff marks or not .Think that would be ex to you??. -
I notice that on discogs, funny enough before i see this thread ,was checking mine cos i remember reading this thread 1st time but forgot like you do. So the Green Issues are all originals? I`m sure i read somewhere one is light Green the other Dark . I bought mine back in early 90`s from a reputable dealer so sure mine is a real one.

John Harris And The Soul Sayers Now Out On 45
Hammersoul commented on Mike's article in News Archives
Finally got mine last week 282 if memory`s serves. Plays fine so looks like Pete got a bad copy.Downside is i had to pay twice cos the seller said my debit card didn`t go throu when it did(only got the statement in the week). So either i `m getting an extra copy or looks like a refund via paypal is due . Re playing the 2rd press at a gig, fair play to person who posted and admitted it,i`m sure there`s a few who will try it on who would`t have bottle to admit to it. Personally i would`t play it out even if i got requested to but i`m old school and set in me ways.On the flipside,i would`t pay £2k for any record now,i can get a lotta good records for less and let`s be honest,i would imagine most copies are bashed/wrecked so to own a mint copy that`s been mastered well and sounds clear and loud in your own home, works for me on prices being quoted for a 1st press. -

You could`t dig out the mag and see what year he released his 45`s could ya Steve? -
Nick the record got a copy in the sales thread.

It used to be cheap but £50 is a bargain now, rarely turns up now. Wonder who sold that at Carib soul,i know most of them guys . Last one i see(Apart from Binsy`s and Mr o`Connor`s ) was around a year/2 years ago on here for around the £75 mark which i managed to reserve for a fellow member who was working and not near a computer(Still waiting for my Beer fee ). For your info Ethan,i`ve got no agenda on this,i bought mine years ago for £20 and it`s staying in my collection for good.Just trying to give ya an idea what to pay/how rare it is etc. It`s a brilliant lp with no duff tracks,i give this a straight 10 .

Just picked this up ,my copy on this side seems to be a mispress,is this like that on all copies? Wondering if there could also be a problem with the mastertapes/Acetate or what ever it was recorded off maybe? The other side : this man needs you plays fine. I`d rather we keep this civil cos of who was behind it, i`ve seem so many threads get a bit nasty in the past. if it goes that way ,i`ll lock it and go direct to Ian.

Thought i`d reactivate this thread . Been meaning to check my copy for years, just found it in my to do/ check pile . Good news mine`s got the spoken intro .It was more by luck then anything i didn`t know at the time there was 2 mixs, had it for years and got it cheap on ebay. Any ideas what year this was released?Checking on line ,Dennis of Greece on his blog mentioned it could be 1980 which would match what Sean Hempsey said about it first getting spins. Have to say think this 45 could do with a reactivation on radio/early door sets clubs/pubs.
