  1. My sales copy, posted about 14 hours ago, is now on hold.
  2. Paypal personal payment only. Shipping is $14 outside U.S., $4 inside U.S. Prices in U.S. dollars. Betty Brewton, Heavy Heavy Lovin/Pershing Square (Sue). Stormer b/w low-rider ballad. Basically an unplayed M- copy; the only "flaws" I can see are a tiny paper scuff or two that don't affect play. Perfect labels. You won't find a cleaner one. $350 U.S.
  3. Is the boot obvious? If not, how does one distinguish?
  4. Didn't see this mentioned: https://cdn.discogs.com/qMhkOKYlCR0wPqly4VnNlr4LgRc=/fit-in/300x300/filters:strip_icc():format(jpeg):mode_rgb()/discogs-images/R-4922557-1379521940-6438.jpeg.jpg Flip is "Listen."
  5. I play records every Wednesday in a bar in Manhattan called Botanica (47 East Houston Street). Usually no dancing, just beer and good tunes (soul, R&B, some funk and blues and gospel) from 9:30 till 2:30 or so. Sometimes packed, sometimes empty, but always good loud 45s. Saturday the 19th is our (me plus DJ One Mint Julep and DJ Cat Fancy) monthly soul dance party at Friends & Lovers in Crown Heights, Brooklyn (641 Classon Avenue). Generally crowded, sweaty, very loud, lots of dancing to northern, Motown, and girl-group sounds plus some R&B and popcorn. 10 till 3 or later, no cover charge. IMO the best soul dance night in New York. If raucous R&B and black rock & roll with a smattering of garage is your thing, you should check out DJ Jonathan Toubin's weekly Friday party at Home Sweet Home (131 Chrystie Street, Manhattan). 11 till 4, always rammed and vibrant.
  6. Three for sale. Paypal personal payment only. M-/VG++/VG+/VG scale. Shipping is $14 outside U.S., $4 inside U.S. Prices in U.S. dollars. 1. Eddie Curtis, Rich Lady From Sugar Hill/I Don't Wanna Be Alone (maroon Atco) Very clean VG++ with some water drop stains on label. Killer blues/R&B/mambo dancer, rarely comes up. $160 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-9Q5U0trHyU 2. Bill Murphy Plus One, Ain't No Big Thing/Happy Days Are-a-Comin' (Martin Music) VG++. Great version! $90 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_ZAVtBuwhU 3. MFQ, Every Minute of Every Day/That's All Right With Me (W.B. white promo) Very clean glossy VG+ with a few light marks that don't affect play. $40 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4pxzaV25qcs
  7. Johnny Nash, (I'm So Glad) You're My Baby/Stormy (MGM yellow promo), unplayed M- copy $80 U.S. plus $4 shipping U.S., $14 elsewhere, Paypal personal payment.

Might help your search to use the actual name on the label: JAME T. Horn.
  10. Doesn't sound like Coffey to me. His stuff tends to have much more structure and discipline.
  11. I've seen several set-sale Blenders in the past couple months for around $90 U.S.
  12. That's roughly £950 and £1270.
  13. Ricky Allen, Cut You Loose (Tam-Boo). Just a couple light paper scuffs less than M-, perfect labels, cleanest copy you'll see. $1,500 U.S. via paypal gift includes priority mail shipping. Brooks Bros., Lookin' for a Woman (Tay), M- stamped DJ copy, impeccable vinyl and labels, $2,000 U.S., same deal as above.
  14. Blame Mr. Wine! I did the reissue!
  15. I've played "A Thousand Tears Too Late" on the radio several times over the years. You can hear it here by clicking on either of the audio playback links and move the cursor ahead to find the song. https://wfmu.org/playlists/shows/57277
  16. Not sure what you're asking, but I've got one on tape (and on CD) that seems to be called "I've Gotta Cover a Whole Lotta Ground (Before the Sun Goes Down)." Discussed here: https://soulfuldetroit.com/archives/6593/7742.html?1092263797

It's the height of folly to buy something advertised as a cover-up if you don't know what it is.

    "Get Out" (Lamp) Anyone? Thanks.
  19. There's now a Whole Foods grocery store where 111 Mack Avenue would have been.
  20. Thirded. Supercool record I'd never heard of, Nancy.
  21. Found a couple of these in New Orleans many years ago. It's late for me, but I still like it.

    Bingo.
  23. Ah, thanks. Do we know how many of the alleged releases that appear on the discographies didn't in fact come out?
  24. Steve G, I certainly wasn't casting aspersions on your work...I just feel that I've seen many records listed on Wand discographies that I've never seen any evidence of beyond the discographies. Just Brothers? Earl King "Mama and Papa"? Do these exist?
  25. Wand discographies all seem to be a bit of a mess...
