  2. The problem I have with certain reissues as a DJ arises when there's a "warm-up" DJ on before me somewhere and he plays, say, Arthur Griswold on "Toledo" when I've got Arthur Griswold on Fortune with me in my box. The reissuers are doing ALL the warm-up DJ's work: not only providing cheap copies of killer records but CHOOSING them for him, preselecting the prime cuts....They don't reissue crap, after all! But then I think: Why shouldn't everybody have access to this great music, and I forgive everyone.
  3. Never turns up in Detroit.
  4. Not all "demand" is in the UK. Many US DJs collectors have been very into sounds like "I Need You" for a while now, and I've seen the record in several boxes lately.
  5. All Because I Love You, Tamla white promo (same both sides) I seem to recall this going up in price recently. Anyone know a fair current figure?
  6. From research I did years ago about the local Detroit radio charts during the '67 riot, I know that "Almost" was a big local hit in late July 1967, so Carla must have preceded Karen by many months.
  7. Wow, I never got that either!! Nice one!
  8. All-time favorite dance-floor destroyer, though it's now too fast for me to dance to at my advanced age. Agree with Bob that Harvey is a great guy to hang out with.
  9. Johnny D, Strange Love (GMC) M- $100 U.S. postage paid, paypal gift only https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4JQ4qzm_4Dg&feature=related
  10. "I Ain't Lying"/"Only a Fool" VG++ (on a scale WITHOUT E grades...just a few light marks and hair scratches). Nice clean, glossy white promo copy with magic-marker X's on "Only a Fool" side. $80 U.S. plus shipping, paypal gift only.
  11. Unknown popcorn jivey R&B dancer with nice guitar break! Clarice Howard, Just a Little Love Baby (Accent). VG. Hear it here (move cursor ahead to 14:55): https://wfmu.org/flashplayer.php?version=2&show=43754&archive=75501 Be the first one in the world to play this for a dance floor! Offers....
  12. Well...good call, Dean!
  13. Belated thanks to the people behind this one: Ady and Dean and the Ace boys; Jukka and Didier and the Timmion boys; Little Ann herself, of course; and was it Markus who wrote the informative liner notes?....It's a record that makes me proud to be a human being.
  14. My copy looks like that too, no artist credit, white demo.
  15. This is the side for me: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dw9_fRh4GMw
  16. Prices in U.S. dollars and include standard airmail shipping anywhere. Paypal gift only. Irene & the Scotts, I'm Stuck on My Baby (Smash) stunning M- copy (bb hole): $125 Congenial Four, You Played the Part (Of a Loser)/Freedom Song (Capitol) M- (writing on label): $40 Ronnie and the Manhattans, Long Time No See/Come On Back (Enjoy) just a couple minor sleeve scuffs shy of M- (unplayed copy; writing on label): $150 Whispers, Remember/What Will I Do (Soul Clock) unplayed M- (writing on label): $60
  17. Yes. I found it on a studio tape from Ollie McLaughlin that contained about ten almost-finished tracks. Both sides of the Volumes on Karen, an instrumental version of "Almost," this one, and I can't remember what else. Something female that I didn't recognize....I sent it to Tom and didn't expect to find it posted here this way.
  18. Um....that's from a tape of mine.
  19. If you can find a mono needle, it can sometimes eliminate the noise from a burned styrene 45 if the damage was caused by a stereo needle...
  20. Yvonne Vernee "Just Like You Did Me" Al Williams "I Am Nothing" Lester Tipton Masqueraders "How" Sherri Taylor, "He's the One..." Can't buy them all at once, but one or two would be dandy.

Ha, I wonder if they ever came back from their extended Caribbean tour.
  22. I can't find it on your podcast. Any way to hear it? I have a couple unreleased Contours tracks myself somewhere, but not this one....
  23. No, she's all for it!
  24. Green Power/I Can't Face You Baby (Atlantic) Proving surprisingly elusive. There's one on Tim Brown's site, but some glitch is preventing me from buying it....
