Hi All' Just been mooching through Evil-Bay to kill some time and I saw a record for sale by a band called Fearns Brass Foundry.I haven't heard of this band for years but I do remember them playing at The Catacombs in Wolves in about 1969 Anybody else out there as old as me with any recollection? It comes as no surprise that Carl played a good set, he's been one of the best right from the early days at the Cats & the Chateau in the late 60's. Never heard him play a bad set yet !! Alan

I have just read your touching tribute to Helen,a lady I was fotunate to meet in the late 1960's in my days at The Cats. Pat & I left the soul scene for many years to bring up our family but when we returned and went to the Connaught for the first time "Holmsey" (I'm not sure of the spelling but she will always be Helen Holmes to me) was one of the first people to welcome us back. It's safe to say Helen was one of those people who was once met never forgotten, and have no fear Pep she will never be forgotten. I recently saw on e-bay a copy of Sweet Magic / Connie accredited to the Magicians, but I know the same record is sometimes accredited to The Servicemen....Any one tell me the difference?

I recently came across a copy of I Just Can't Please You by Jimmy Robins on a label I am not familiar with. I've seen this track on Jerhart but this is the first time I've seen it on this label. The label is yellow in colour and carries the number 108, the B side is I Made It Over Any info would be appreciated Cheers Alan

Recently got hold of a stock copy of (I love her so much) It hurts me by David & Ruben.It's on Warner Bros. Ref No.7316 with the stamped matrix of M-17267-1C. Everything looks fine with it but when I played it I found that it doesn't have the horn intro I was expecting....Is this the norn or have I bought somekind of dud??

Just got back from holiday and got to a P.C.for the first time since we heard the news from Wolfie. what can I say....When I got back into Northern sone 10 years ago Max was one of the first people I turned to, spending many hours in his 'cafe' , some people called it a shop, with the likes of Wolfie & Sam reliving the old days of the Cats or The Chateua Impney.Next thing Iknow I'm buying records again!!!! me a 50 year old born again soulie.I later had the prvelidge of D.Jing with Max many times both at his own venues and at Lea Hall ,where after doing the opening spot it was always a pleasure to hand over to my"Dad" Blue Max.
