  1. I’ve seen a few copies of Willy mcdougal recently set sale for more than that price. It’s a great record that seems a good price to me.
  2. Yes I get what you are saying but it would be quite obvious starting a new discussion thread on value within a day of a sales thread starting. Must be a tough job being a mod.
  3. I would be quite happy to see people speaking out against silly high prices it would remove some of the chancers and help people to learn true values. like you I keep quiet but it can be frustrating at times.
  4. Great footage and great tracks.
  5. Best I can think of is 3 kim tolliver, Kimberly Briggs, big Ella Just one release as big Ella on super heavy not to be confused with the other big ella.
  6. I enjoyed the books written by people who were actively involved with the scene and who also pulled together stories from others. I would say this era has been more than covered now so not sure what else it can say. and as for the price it’s way too high.
  7. One by one hearing all the different versions of “the look on your face” all great
  8. I used to love the fact that after a tape swap you would pick up a nice track like ej and echoes cheap and that to me was as good as hearing big money sounds. Hearing stuff like that and being able to find copies happy days.
  9. I think that was the one of the first records I obsessed over getting a copy. Provably not my number one but certainly near the top of the list. eddie Parker “if you must go” probably my all time number one but I don’t listen to it too often now. You can have to much of a good thing..... but when I do listen it’s still special. same could be said for quite a few others.
  10. Considering the quality and rarity it was cheap not that I could afford it.
  11. His voice is a lot better on “no time” sounds quite different.
  12. Something like the Nancy Wilcox you are buying a piece of history of what is a great song and didn’t get an official release until 2013 or 14. if I were very rich that kind of acetate would appeal to me for the history of it. But I’d have to vinyl pied piper release to play.
  13. John had updated his auction notes to 65
  14. I did just try to find that extract as a test but failed.
  15. How do you find these old magazine extracts ?
  16. There would have been a lot of artists trying to capture that James brown sound and that dates the Mac staten flip far more accurately IMO. mcgees is also very good.
  17. It’s nice to get the discussion going maybe we will get a definitive answer ? as time goes on establishing the true facts about these records will only get harder and harder.
  18. Yes I saw that but to my ears that is never a 63 sound.
  19. Not just the voice but the backing track as well. It’s basically a novelty pop record a la girls aloud etc etc
  20. Yes they are auction notes with the intention of talking up the records as much as possible so should be taken with a pitch of salt. I think a lot of people find them a bit OTT now though.
  21. Yes that was my initial thought but didnt want to appear rude.
  22. Thats a nice tune. on the same page is mac staten "there she goes" john has it as a 1963 release in the description. Is that right it sounds later ?
  23. It could just simply be that a lot of stock was found. A lot of collectors who want records for the dance floor won’t care for it so may only want it for a low price and don’t think it deserves a premium.
  24. It took me a few years to find a copy. I did then find a second copy which I easily sold quickly for around 150gbp. All this was probably between 2000 and 2010. I suspect these are some kind of legitimate copies that have been done later but I just don’t know so wanted to see what others thought. The font on the labels looks a bit thinner possibly? I love the record it’s fantastic.
  25. I noticed a lot of copies of let your sweet love are on discogs cheap. I'm a little out of touch with this 45 did it get a repress or did a lot of original copies come to the market ? if it is repressed how do you tell an original from a repress ? thanks.
