Its a good point you are making here outside collectors and people who listen to a lot of soul music a lot of these great records aren't as well known as you expect them to be or think they are. i started on listening to soul music very late compared to some so missed a lot of what many regard as old classics.

sales hype seems part and parcel of it and has always been IMO. It would probably work the opposite way and put me off trying to get a certain record.

They aren't blatently similar but when i hear one i think of the other. must be a subtle similarity rudy love is quite a bit faster. i like both.

There will be loads of these no doubt bobby barnes "times are bad" and rudy love "sufferin wrath" always remind me of each other with that funky bassline rudy love has gone on to be a massive scene record bobby barnes not so much IMO.

its not even that simple the third bidder could have also been affected by shill bidding. the whole bidding from the first shill changes what would have been the outcome.

The soul twisters is a better in this style to my ears and also pretty rare. shame about the crackle though it spoils it. well spotted on the bidding though thats not good.....

Benny Harper my prayer probably a bit over 10 years now ? was that known before the little qty John Anderson had ? i remember being in Scandinavia and 3 of us all had copies it was a great track but a little tricky to dance to. best record of last 10 years for me. Probably speak now by Richard marks that knocked me sideways. tuska label stuff, more quality southern soul lots of great records.

Some serious rarities up on eBay. amazing the quantity and volume of the good stuff they continually list time and time again just an observation.....

Obviously a great performance but a shame a group with such an extensive back catalogue and talent have to resort to a show like this. one of the great vocal groups IMO. none of the judges had a clue who they were.....
