  1. can someone put up a few key examples of this genre ? when we've discussed this before the funky soul I like isn't actually the same as funky soul........
  2. yes seb I knew there were 2 on the label its the love bones record that went from your freak results down to the price it is now. I thought those freak results of yours were typical of the price it used to sell for that was the mistake I made.
  3. To those that are in on the joke thats good but a lot of poeple obviously won't be in on the joke and believe he is being serious.
  4. is James Phelps generally regarded as the best version ? I quite like the John Edwards. JP is good i'm just not sure its any better than some of the others.
  5. the record discussed here sounds very average if I pulled that out a sales box and it was priced up at $10 i'd listen to it and put it back. I have no idea of its rarity or demand so would just judge it on what it sounds like. here is an example of a record that seems to have gone from $300 to $30 https://www.popsike.com/php/quicksearch.php?searchtext=las+vegas+connection&x=0&y=0 is it any less rare now than it was or is it just lack of demand ? I wonder which price out of the two people would reference when selling ?
  6. he won't need to sell many records with that kind of mark up and he will be able to stay on and do a masters and a PHD.
  7. Yes absolutely its fantastic. Makes the flip of the issue copies sound very average.
  8. I must have a couple of spares here only 20 quid.......
  9. lifted a quote from the listing as title made me laugh, seller can't have looked very hard to get to that conclusion. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Rare-Crossover-Soul-Johnny-Truitt-On-A-BET-9433-Your-Love-Is-Worth-The-Pain-/251098781811?pt=Music_on_Vinyl&hash=item3a76a75873 only a $10 record but one of the best $10 you could spend on a soul record.
  10. no, blame the bootlegger creating and selling the boot to the DJ.....
  11. very good price for this rare record.
  12. Dylan replied to a post in a topic in Look At Your Box
clay brown an odd additon to this thread ? for me benny latimore "rain from the sky" jackie montre el "doomed by jealousy" 2 I listened to today and both are fantastic. also just in from boba :- Chuck Walker "I'll be standing by" Virgo sounding pretty good.
  13. liking a record is not the only thing to consider though is it ? there are records I like that I can afford and records I like that I can;t afford or can't get becuase they hardly ever turn up for sale.
  14. glad I started this thread there is a lot mroe music on this label than I realised...... I was only expecting 5 or 6 releases not sure why ?
  15. for a full time record dealer $18 for 6 months seems pretty good. Even as a part time collector I wouldn't object to paying that price. It seems like a good deal to me. My usage must be pretty low as i've never been asked if I want to pay.
  16. I think at times we can get spoilt if a certain title is around in a reasonable quantity from same seller for a while. They need to get into collections and sell again as single pieces for price to get back to normal and demand to increase again.
  17. so is this a 3rd frank wilson or is this now with spomebody else ? i'm a bit suprised nobosy else has mentioned it yet as its been discussed countless times on here. It does sound like an amazing collection. And I agree with Dave there must be some mind blowing collections over in Japan. I recently watched a 2nd Richard Marks new york label single go though ebay for over 4000 dollars and assumed it was first copy but later found out there is another in Japan.
  18. I'm fairly sure it plays the same song just a different title.
  19. yes there does seem to be quite a bit cropping up for sale now. Thats partly why I started this thread to see what people have been picking up.
  20. I first came aware of this label when I picked up ray quarles a couple of years ago and now have 2 more on the label. george frankin and chosen few. what else is on the lable and what of the others do people liek ? i've only seen 1 other but it was out of stock.
  21. so many of his records are very good. great artist along with a fantastic production and writing team. I bought his LPs so didn't focus to heavily on looking for the 45s. the valuations on here seem steep but not suprising.
