  1. seriously I would not spend more than 75GBP on this 45 now. It was 200GBP but not anymore
  2. thnaks for the compliment but 2 kids and a 3rd on the way i'm starting to go grey
  3. it is very good dancing can't fault that at all realy just the big oldies and 70s dress sense etc etc is a bit retrospective. all the cliches are evident.
  4. good dancing but incredibly staged. 32 seconds in this is virtually identical to one of those old wigan clips i've seen 1000's of time. but best dancing i've seen yet in one of these kind of things. Far from being a real scene though.

there is a furniture shop in town where you stand more chance of hearing soul music
  6. stick a couple of silly badges on and add 35 quid to the standard rrp. the clasic fred perry woith twin stripes on collar and sleeve will always be a favourite with me.
  7. 75GBP would be about right i'd say now a few years ago was probably selling for more. Lots of copies go through ebay for this price very often. great record.

do you know you can accept paypal gift from UK buyers and avoid fees ?
  10. those quinvy LPs are stunning (essential) there is an unissued mid tempo by bill brandon as good if not better than any of his issued stuff. nice to see 45s like this getting released and hopefully appreciated by more people as a result. I can't help singing "my girl" whne I hear this particular track the structure is very similar but more southern and punchy with it.
  11. rich, I had a bit of a problem with the format of the word document it didn't fit on the pages correctly.....
  12. I care a lot about the conditon of my records and always buy a good a copy as possible within my budget. but would certainly not rule out a rough looking copy of a very rare record as long as it played well and the price was knocked down accordingly.
  13. with a photo and an mp3 you have enough info to make a judgement on how much you want to bid. All i'm realy sayting is if i've got those 2 pieces of info it makes any text description quite secondary. I wasn't suggesting an mp3 gives you the visual condition of the vinyl but at least you can hear exactly what sound quality you will be getting.
  14. I knwo you only see the run out groove in the pic but it does look reasonably glossy and the label looks decent. but one very quick listen to the clip tells me its in very bad shape. Possibly $40 or $50 filler copy but thats all. The vocals can be hard quite well but the crackle and hiss is very strong and constant. Once you get an mp3 and a photo to judge a record by any text becomes pretty much meaningless IMO. Recprd grading will continue to be a very subjective thing in spite of retty accurate descriptions of what each grade should be.
  15. I used to be a regular in arcade records early 90s and remember johnathon very active with US garage sets around that time. It was only much later I learnt of his earlier activities and that he had owned the infamous frank wilson.
  16. some amazing records on this label. One of the very best small ghetto labels IMO.
  17. i've also tried this method twice through a tea towel start with lowest heat and if nothing happens turn up the heat a bit. both times the record ended up trashed but most likely through my impatience and lack of care. some kind of clamp with 2 thick pieces of transparent plasttic or glass and the to heat from sunlight may also work but could fade the label.....

I think you have made some very good points here. Exactly the reasosn why a lot of new comers are put off. but it does seem unique in spanning generations. The rfave culture of the late 80s and 90s has been and gone and I don't see that coming back.

starts about 16 mins in for those who haven't seen it yet. did the 45 actually sell for 26k in the manship auction I thought it was much less than thatn more like the 15k kenny paid ? amazing he can go on national TV and claim to have had the record when every man and his dog knows he didn't. so far removed from what I believe NS is about.

i've also seen this on a third label can't remember the label name though............
  22. absolutely i've got my eye on the shark dive just deciding wether to go for PVD coating or not. I seem to be going throuhg a big chunky watch phase recently although I do also like the more smarter dress watch as well. there seems to be a great choice of good quality watches in this price band right now.
  23. deposit down on a benarus moray 3 but won't be seeing this one for about 5 months. will soon have to start a one in one out policy.
  24. If I had to pick a favourite blue eyed song I might go for linden hill on arch. That sounds very soulful.
