  1. it would only upset me to know my records are goign to bve worth sod all.... carry on the debate....
  2. Don't realy want it to be a now much will they be worth thread. bob for example. Was it something you got into because your parents liked and you heard it whilst growing up it or did you discover it yourself ?
  3. are children of todays collectors and DJs goig to be the future of the soul scene ? are they going to inherit the collections and the love of the music from their parents. my first interest was due to my dad talking about the late 60s and early 70s soul scene. Shame he doesn't have any rare records but never mind he certainly lit the spark for me and got my interest in all this. He was more into general club soul and motown but it was his stories about the dancing, clothes and clubs that got me wanting to find out more. I know i'd like my kids to grow up liking soul music and would love for my modest collection to be passed down the family. They are certainly having to listen to enough of it whilst gorwing up but who knows.....
  4. JW is one of my fave uptempo oldies so i'm a little biased in my view. However good it is though i'd be happy to hear it played by a DJ at a venue without realy needing to own the actual 45. Not unless I found it cheapish I would rather have 3 or 4 great deep soul records for that kind of money.
  5. MWL is fantastic first heard this on a tape frank from derby did for me and very soon after I baught a copy. In fact literally every track on that tape went onto my wants list. Found virtually all of them since. I'm sure just after this tape frank did also offer me a copy of "for the rest of my life" but at the time it was way over my budget and I didn't know it well enough to spoend bif money on it. I think it was about half what people are quoting as todays value.

mmm good question ? jason only shows 3 releases on this label on his carolinas site. 2 by clay brown and this one.
  10. 8/9 copies in 2 years is fcuk all.... there are more expensive records that turn up a lot mroe often than that.

sean..... are you getting your records mixed up ...... or is there a version I didn't know about. Which is quite likely
  12. In my experiene never stop was a bit harder to find than gigi. It also has a decent northern flip side so another good double sider. mine has gone now
  13. Dylan replied to a post in a topic in Look At Your Box
yes a very good record this one.
  14. I didn't buy it don't know who did.....
  15. get me a good playing copy cheap then but I do agrree there are quite a few in popsike. But still a brilliant record.
  16. agree on the label tear but I thought it sounded fine in 2009 a pretty good deal i'd say.
  17. I would rather have had a bid on the john wesley that the same seller had. I think somebody got a good deal there at $750. But to even think $750 is a good price for a record is still crazy. I almost stuck a bid on myself but resisted.... now thats a proper soul record for you baz.
  18. patience..... as soon as you buy that one will pop up on ebay for half the price.
  19. no thats way over the top its 200 ish... but who knows stranger things have happened and it is a good double sider. anyway its a played out oldie now one to enjoy at home.
  20. this guy must know virtually all the big dealers and collectors to have put that collection together. are other people selling bits for him as well or are you his exclusive seller ? whats the comission like
  21. will certainly be interesting to have that discussion in 2030..... wonder how many of us there will be by then still listeing to and trying to find rare soul ? so much knowledge will have been forgotton by then that many common records could be passed of as rare again.
  22. in the selers defence he's added a full mp3 so the grading becomes a little bit meaningless. if there was no mp3 and buyers were going on the grading they would be seriosuly p**sed off when it arrived
  23. no way in the world is that vg+ sounds better after about first 40 seconds but thats a lot of record to get through before it clears up and even then it still crackles. i'd say vg- for say something ? bought a vg- last week off ebay that sounds loads better than this. Probably will be pretty badly marked but the sound clip was fine.
  24. early 80s is before i even knew what musical joiurney i'd end up on. went through all the usual suspects of hip hop, indie, dance then onto soul after all them. you must kick yourself at times but there must be a hell of a lot of people who have had a lot of todays big money records for next to nothing sold them cheap and now having to pay to get them back or just not bothering to try and get them back and wishing for it to be like to 80s again. doesn't sound like the prices have put you off though matt keep at it. still plenty of bargains on ebay I think even now so its not all bad.
