Profile Fields

  • A brief intro...
One of Resident djs at Scissett Mecca (WMC) Warm up spot 8 -9pm last Friday of month and Seaside Soul at The Floral Hall, Hornsea 8-9.30pm 1st Friday of month. I have done guest spots at  Bridlington Soul Club, Back Street Soul Club in Barnsley, Mexborough Athletic, (Atha Soul) and Montgomery Hall, Wath before soul nights finished there. Started out djing at local Youth Club 1967. Ran a mobile disco 1970 -72. Got back djing 2009. Can't claim to have ever been to Wigan Casino or any of the well known venues but I have liked all Soul Music since I was 13 and seen many live bands over the years including Booker T & the MGs, Stevie Wonder, Kim Weston and Edwin Starr to name a few. Supported by my wife/driver/manager Joyce who ferries me around to gigs as I am no longer able to drive.

  1. Thanks very much both of you for your imput. Mystery solved.
  2. That looks like being the one Trev Thomas. So it did exist. Did it never come out as an issue copy?
  3. Thanks for that. Same song but Timothy Wilson version is much faster than the one I am looking for which is slower and mellow.
  4. Found this on an old cd I was given in 2007, don't know who by, and have been looking for the song .Only Impacts on Discogs are a surfing band so not them. Can anyone throw a light on this song please. Maybe artist is wrong or the title. Thanks.
  5. A snap shot in time. How many of these people were still on the Northern Soul scene before lockdown put a stop to everything?
  6. Note change of Date 29th November not 30th.
  7. Going to try to be there earlier this month. Always a good night at Atha.
  8. Sorry folks but Magic John will have disappeared in a puff of smoke this month only to be found at the Bridlington Northern Soul Weekender. Back in July. Happy Birthday in advance to Ian and many more to come.
  9. Hard to say but 50 is a comfortable number as not one of the bigger venues but a good friendly atmosphere. Dance floor has been extended. Good place to go. Hope you will give it a try sometime. Next one in August on Friday 16th. Sorry didn't reply any sooner.
  10. Good news that you are back at the Rugby Club. We are coming over for this and Joyce is looking forward to trying out the new dance floor.
  11. Another good night at Atha. All djs played good sets. Photos from Joyce also on facebook page and some videos.
  12. Another excellent night. Someone said at the end of the night that they were still waiting for me to pull a rabbit out of a hat (Magic John) but hope my choice of records was magic enough for most people. Usual brilliant set from Jonah.
  13. See you there, Andy.
