Looking forward to Ady joining Carl, Joan and I playing a few soul records. Be a really good night I reckon, as per. Great venue and sound system of course, courtesy of Baz Ps. Yes Pete, the dancing cat is still singing Dana songs and grooving away as disturbingly as ever.

Haven’t been out for a few months so .looking forward to digging a few records out and a bit of a catch up
-
Need this back if anyone can assist vg+ or better PM me Cheers Phil

Colin Lester still rings me occasionally, from Nottingham

Nah, I'll let Andy play The Prophets because without the passion and legwork of hounds like him there's a strong chance that minions like me wouldn't even know about most of that stuff; credit where it's due. Rest assured, there'll be at least as many inexpensive but fabulous records played by everyone on Saturday too, alongside a fair few acetates and unissued things no doubt. Variety and quality; what it's all about innit?

Just seen this really sad news. Lovely fella! RIP mate x

Spot on Baz With Andy n Keith guesting you KNOW it’ll be top drawer all the way, with the added bonus that you’re guaranteed to hear sounds you can’t or won’t hear anywhere else. We’re delighted to have them both back as they absolutely personify what the rare soul / nighter scene has always been about for us. Theres plenty on, inevitably, but I flippin’ know where I’d be going!
-
I also think it's a genuinely hard original to find. I wasn't around in the seventies so can only imagine what it must've been like going out and hearing things this good for the first time, and on a regular basis! The day this stops floating my boat I'll offload the bleedin' lot. Proper record.

Thanks for posting Joan. Messers Rix n Whitson guesting: really good lads who’ll play great records, guaranteed! Anyone who caught Andy at Runcorn will be heading to Culcheth for part II at a rate of knots I suspect. Great to welcome Keith back too and I’m sure he will be well supported by the Celtic hordes; nowt like a few from north of the border to get and keep a night buzzing. Love the venue and it’s bank holiday weekend too

One or two prices amended. I'll be posting records out Weds / Thurs (just been to do it now and our PO is bleedin' closed today "due to unforeseen circumstances") Following up for grabs; it's that time of year again and I need to raise some funds. Condition There are some nice records here inc some you don't see too often these days. No absolute minters but all are conservatively graded; check my feedback if you're unsure. All inspected and played prior to listing so I know they all play well! Can send scans on request but unable to do sound files I'm afraid. Money back if you're unhappy of course, no dramas. No offers Prices are solid so no offers thanks. If I'm miles out with anything though do let me know via PM. It happens ... If you want anything PM me and I'll confirm asap by PM Postage UK only sales ideally but if you're O/S and desperate sure we can sort something. That's bloody awful news. RIP mate x

Exactly what Joan said! Particular thanks to Baz for the banging sound system and all the work he put in behind the scenes. Certainly didn’t go unnoticed and VERY much appreciated

REALLY looking forward to it. Be so good to catch up with old mates, some of whom I haven't seen for ages. Hopefully there'll be plenty of new faces too and it feels like it's gonna be a busy old night. Hope so, some of those Grumpy nights were absolutely rocking from start to finish and it'd be great to feel a bit of that again. I've missed it! Anyway, life's too flippin' short for warm-ups so you can rest assured that the music will be on it right from the get-go at 8pm.

That’ll get an outing on Saturday Bob
-
Cheers Baz. Some of those playlists were very long as I recall LOL Suffice to say, if rarities are your bag you might well hear Pee Wee Shuck and Huey, Kell Osborne, Foreign Blue Renaissance, Little John, CODs, Damon Fox, Eddie Parker, Prophets, Eddie Billups, William Powell, Combinations, Gwen Owens, Four Dynamics etc, plus a raft of unissued things, LP only tracks etc. That said, you can also bank on hearing Miracles, Temps, Edwin Starr, Spyder Turner, Parliaments, Bobby Bland, Darell Banks, Steve Mancha, Dells, Artistics, Carl Carlton, Otis Clay and plenty of other, quality sounds that sometimes feel criminally taken for granted in a world where cost trumps value far too often. Regardless, rare or not, fast or slow, as long as it’s soulful and danceable it’s all good as far as we’re concerned. Same as it ever was then, there’ll be a proper MIX aimed squarely at the dance floor! Loads saying their coming and it promises to be a fantastic night
-
Yeah, they were eight good years Baz where you’d hear one offs you couldn’t hear anywhere else and rarities alongside anything and everything else. If we believed it was good enough it got played. Sure you’ll hear the same eclectic mix a week on Saturday but everything will be aimed at the folk coming through the door. Reckon it’ll be buzzing
-
No tequila left in N Wales since their last trip. Absolutely made-up that they're coming down; guaranteed atmosphere from the get-go
-
You n me both Mick!!!!!! I never went the same way twice and got lost every single time
-
Be great to see you Col

Typical Joan, hiding her own light under a bushel. I’ve never, ever heard her play a less than excellent set in all the years I’ve known her. She heads-up the QA dept and without her energy and passion Grumpy would never have been what it was. Proper champion of proper soul records and proof positive that lasses can really do stuff given half a chance. Leave the sparklers til the Sunday and get yourself to Culcheth on Saturday the 4th for some rare soul fireworks.
