Might be something to do with the fact that it's Easter weekend Though two in Lancashire on the same night does seem to be overdoing it a bit

Yes you can, Jackie Wilson "Stop Lying" (IMHO)! LP track only. First heard it only 12 months ago. South Essex Soul Club anthem now, as spun by Mr Paul Mckay

IMO probably not! Without the big hitters I think Motown might have been "just" another Detroit label. Most people, (i.e. non soulies), can name the big hitters and some of the hits they made but ask em if they've heard of the likes of Bobby Taylor, Originals etc and they won't have a clue
  16. No! Getting out 2-3 times a month to Soul do's is my limit as I've also got "family" commitments, which most of the other good people on here will have!
  17. 54 (and feeling it!)
  18. Two of the earliest soul records I bought and almost wore out were: Junior Walker & The Allstars - Roadrunner (UK Tamla which had Sotgun on the other side which also saw plenty of action) Billy Preston - Billy's Bag Must have been 68/69 ish! Before I saw the light I'd been buying pop chart records
  19. I thought it was great Only downside was 30 minutes only of which 10 must have covered post move to LA Detroit was where it was at Martin Freeman was excellent and seemed to know his stuff. Has he ever been seen out and about?
  20. Bump

I got one for £83 earlier this year on ebay - multi coloured logo (demo). Would imagine if you can find one on a list you'd be looking at £100!
  22. Billy Kennedy - Sweet Things / This Is A Groovy Generation
  23. Innersection - Let Me Love Yuh / I'm In Debt To You
  24. And it's not just NYE though How many times have I been at a do with "normal" people and just thought to myself I wish I was at a Soul do
