    Black and Blue

London's Hottest R&B Club at the Bayou in Camden Town. Starring Mik Parry, Liam Large, Sir Roger of Banks & Bald Mark Black and Blue is a club night in Camden Town where the best selection of Rhythm & Blues, Soul and Ska in the country can be heard every month down at The Bayou... Preferably over a cocktail or two. It takes place in a New Orleans inspired, intimate but beautiful little venue. Drink prices are very reasonable for Camden with a happy hour before midnight & the cocktails are truly fabulous…. Like the crowd. Each second Saturday over the coming months Black and Blue will be presenting spots from the best DJ’s & Collectors, big names and small, domestic and international superstars, chosen both for their quality of music and ability to shake a room to it’s foundations… And all we would like is for you to come down, join the party & dance. We’re not too hot on pigeonholing style, musically or otherwise so you can expect tunes spanning Black Music from the late 50’s through to the 70’s across all forms of R&B from Soul to Funk-tinged tracks and gospel, including the odd blue-eyed effort (it's in the name!) and even Ska. The only rule is they are all to be of the highest quality tunes on OVO, whether well-known or not. I'd say you can expect every track spun to be jaw-droppingly great. (Mix cloud link below!) On the same basis, we are open to anyone, regardless of which angle you come at it from and as we know any style is good style ask only that if you simply must wear clothes, then just wear them well!! See you there. Bald Mark. https://www.facebook.com/events/815201688529780/ If you're still unsure of what we may play, have a listen to this from last month.... https://www.mixcloud.com/BaldMark/2015-04-11-bald-mark-black-and-blue/

  10. Unfortunately, I don't want to throw a spanner in the works but I do have a slight disagreement with your summation of the night: I think you'll find that I was particularly stand-offish all night! That said, all the rest of it is true [which surprises me I have to say]. I never post on here, or comment but I do think this is worth it this once... It was the best night down there for a number of years... A great crowd spanning the ages, in a great mood, dancing to great sounds [Joel particularly tweaking it this week]. The numbers were high and stayed high throughout the night, the arses were few [other than I of course] and there was a distinct absence of people being arsey... And there was that little thing you can never quite put your finger on... it just felt right! No idea what you did Ady, but it worked... played! Keep it up man. BM
