New Youngblood Dj On The Scene
Youngsters should be encouraged whether they DJ or are just part of the crowd. At the last 100 Club there were some (teenage?) girls dancing their little hearts out and they hadn't just stumbled into the venue by accident. Also two mods who looked about 16 but stood there soaking up the atmosphere! Can remember getting into a "discussion" several years ago at Warrinton Parr Hall with some old timer, told him it was a great to see a younger element there and he looked at me and said "Nope, don't like youngsters at venues - they make me feel old". Hope this type of opinion went out the door when Warrington closed! Mark C

Public Liability Insurance At Venues
I have been asked by a girl at work if I take out public liability insurance when I hold my Northern doos. She's asking this because she went to a gig put on by an independent promoter at a club venue and slipped on an ice cube on the dance floor and broke her leg. She is making a compensation claim but her solicitor has informed her that the guy who runs the night is liable (not the owner) although he only takes the money and holds neither the music or drinks licence. Told her I had never thought about it so wondered what other promoters out there do - and is anyone aware of the legal implications if someone did have a serious accident at a venue. Lets face it, with the amount of talc (and drink) on the floor at some venues something like this could happen (or may have already done so.) Any advice please Thanks Mark Chamberlin

Is this the Anniversary of the "new" Keele or are you going back to when it originally started like another promoter (forgetting the place was shut for many years) lol Mark C

Northern Soul Tops The Charts
Now I'm not a fan of Boy Bands (save the Temps,Tops etc) but wasn't Abs a soloist? And correct me if I'm wrong again but wasn't Abs to do with his abdomen muscles (only girls need answer that bit!!) Mark

St. Ives Reunion
I think that the advance ticket price of £8 is reasonable when you consider Ian Clark is guesting, and the fact that a sum from the proceeds goes to Macmillan Nurses. At least I assume that's still the case.. Mark C

St. Ives Reunion
It's the way you came across - we're not mugs and it's really obvious that 35 sounds better than... BTW what happens next year - does it go back to being number 34?!! Mark C

St. Ives Reunion
So will he be getting his flyers reprinted then? Mark C PS.. it really didn't take Einstein to work out that if you subtract 1975 from 2008 it leaves 33 and frankly I find the "Well spotted you lot" a bit patronising.

St. Ives Reunion
Thanks Paul Over to you Mr Bounden - was your calculator low on batteries when you worked out the date or is this another of your advertisining masterplans? Mark C ps... Now looked up the review on the 31st Anniversary which was 14/10/06

Las Vegas Clubs
If your behaviour is as bad as that at the Norwich Alldayer a couple of years back I think that's a definite no! Having said that we would love to see you at the next one on July 12th!! See the Events ATB Mark C

St. Ives Reunion
I've been handed a flyer for the St Ivo Reunion in November which is billed as the 35th Anniversary. Now on my reckoning this means the venue started in 1973. I wasn't around at the time but have read up and been told that the actual 'Nighter ran from 75 - 77. So could someone enlighten me as to what was going on prior to the All-Nighters, or have I got my dates wrong? Thanks Mark C

Leicester Oddfellows
I can remember Graham (ex Cheltenham/Gloucester) saying at one Anniversary he was going to mark out his space on the dance floor with bollards, it was that packed! Great to see him at the last Middleton Mark C

Kings Lynn Ymca
Pete, you're right about the edgy atmosphere. There were plenty of non-soulies that used to frequent the place and ace collector Andy Gill turned round one day to see his record box being dragged across the floor by some dodgy looking skinhead! Mark C

A Bit Of Fun - Help Me In My Quest - Issue 1 Complete
How about "Lost in the world of a dream" - sorry can't remember the artist coz it's only 6.30am ! Mark C

Kings Lynn Ymca
It's all a bit blurry but we are talking thirty odd years ago. Who can remember going to the "legendary" Kings Lynn Alldayers? Am sure the attendance at one topped 1,000 and the advert in Black Echoes described it as "The Wigan of The East"! Maybe a bit over the top but the music was really cutting edge of the day with the likes of Soul Sam, Arthur Fenn and the late, great Nev Wherry on the DJ line-up. Can even remember Nev saying over the mike that he had just returned from the States with a great newie, went on to spin Velvet Hammer - "Happy" for the first time! The title kind of fitted the event! Oh, those memories!!! Mark C

Keele Early 90's When
I first went to Keele on the 1st Anniversary (1989) with a lad from Norwich called Steve Jenkinson (RIP) We were so excited we got there before everybody else!! We used to meet Maxine & Dave Parnham (Rotherham) - everyone sat in the same place in those days - their area was along the right hand side half way down . She always wore a red checked skirt and ankle socks - haven't seen them for a while Anybody seen them recently? Mark C

Dancers
Me old mucker Billy reckons he could wipe the floor with any of the dancers of today - but they might end up with a dirty face
