  1. Very sad life - abused by James Brown and the umbrella incident, then jumped into a relationship with David Ruffin, and due to beatings around the head - possibly contributing to her early death 😢 At the time of her death, she was engaged to Dr. Ernie Garrett, who reported that Terrell's mother "angrily banned everyone at Motown from her funeral, except for Gaye, whom she felt was Terrell's closest friend." Gaye gave Terrell's eulogy over a recording of "You're All I Need To Get By."
  2. The lawsuit - brought by KP Law - alleges that Johnson & Johnson (J&J) was aware as early as the 1960s that its mineral-based talcum powder contained fibrous forms of talc, as well as tremolite and actinolite. Both minerals - when in their fibrous form - are classified as asbestos and linked to potentially deadly cancers. 🤔

  4. South Yorkshire Drug Squad we’re legendary- I remember getting a Soul coach from Aldershot roundabout run by Derick Mead and Kev Day - to Wakefield All-nighter 76 - everyone was told as soon as we get near Yorkshire drop ur gear - we pulled up at Wakefield Unity Hall the doors opened on the coach and the DS walked on - they searched the coach and found nothing, in my nighter bag they found small dart flight plastic bags empty - what are these for - dart flights I said - go on F off then. In those days it wasn’t uncommon for the bus driver to hold any gear money 👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻👍🏻

  12. It’s simple you break the law you pay the price - it’s called life get on with it - no one’s above the law. I am sure she’s getting advice from legal people, if she appeals and stay great.
  13. Give Berry a call - he’s good for a few $$$
  14. The show was called Anything Goes - hence the drum skin with the same words on 👍🏻 In 1954, Marilyn Monroe entertained over 100,000 American troops in Korea during an organized show titled "Anything Goes."
  15. I would go down to top 5 that mean something, frame them , if you live in a big house top 10 , then pull another 30 you just can’t let go - they mean something to you. After that split your collection down and bleed out the collection, either through SS or evil bay one at a time , big money top times first , slowly work yourself back to the £10 boots - and loads of Motown - then what ever is left - contact one of the record dealers like Rob Smith yea I know he’s only going to give you £2 per record for what’s left but hey someone else can enjoy them . or you go straight to plan B and sell the whole lot - and as you close the door after they’ve gone you think - is that it , am left with nothing 😢
  16. Back in the mid 70ts when all we had was Black Echoes - I would flip to the NS 🤔 think it was melting pot and view where the DJs were playing Brian Rae was my go to DJ - played oldies put 100% into his DJ ing and would take time to talk to a kid speeding my nuts off, asking stupid questions - When the Casino shut in 81, we opened the Peterborough Soul Club in 82 - Brian was a dj who without question would help us out - it’s been great knowing you Sir - RIP mate
  17. Gotta love this SS was hated in the mid 70ts he got the blame rightly or wrongly for pressing everything that was discovered - a new sound would hit the turntables on a Sat at the Casino packed the floor - within a few weeks it was pressed and sold £5 a piece as well as booting and pressing every thing else in between. Guess you had to be there, to know 🤔 😂🤣
  18. This gets my vote 👍🏻
  19. July 3, 2017By Matt A When the story of how Britain fell in love with underground club culture is told, it tends to follow a familiar narrative. The initial focus naturally falls on the NS scene of the late ’60s and early ’70s, which effectively created the blueprint for modern club culture by promoting the idea of dancing all night to obscure music played by DJs whose reputation was built on their ability to champion records their rivals didn’t own. The story then moves on to the rise of house music, ecstasy culture and the rave movement at the tail end of the 1980s. It was during this period that dance music became part of the fabric of British culture, in the process sparking the rise of the “superstar DJ,” colossal events and a boom in music production that... the full article can be read via Britain’s First Dance Music Boom...Britain’s First Dance Music Boom: The Soul All-Dayer Scen...The scene that gave Britain the cult of the DJ, the UK’s first dedicated dance music festival and the future pioneers of rave.
  20. When they were good they were great - 👀 one of my fondest memories was at the anniversary’s - at some stage there would be a slight pause either for prize draws or to thank the staff bla bla bla so no music, yet it was not uncommon to see people still dancing, moving spinning - 🤣😂
  21. What happened to Clem Curtis? Curtis died on 27 March 2017 at the age of 76, after a short battle with cancer. Curtis has been referred to on various occasions, informally as "The Godfather of English Soul".
  22. 1st instrumental to be played at the Casino 👏🏻👏🏻
  23. Back in 79 when I first started DJing to cue the records you could either use the lights that flicker or head phones if you went past the start of the record you pick the needle up and start again - till your happy - I still use that method in 2025 - hey guess what it works I saw a young guy take to the decks after me who put the record on and then cued it back - my advice “your gonna duck that record and needle up” he looked t me as if to say “ I know better”
  24. blast from the past - stomper / shuffler
