Without changing the subject to much Car Wash was played at St Ives 1975 If you cut and paste Unbelieveably Played At Wigan it takes you to Soul Source 2009 - let the arguments begin -
Knew Chis & Harry back in the day (76) pre DEMOB days - Chris was always the calm one , I remember Harry on the balcony at the Casino with a roll neck top on - I said ain’t you hot which he pulled his jumper up to show a rounders bat in his belt as he was on the hunt for a non payer Last time I saw Chris would be about 88 at the Scrubs he was on remand for allegedly setting fire to something - I still talk to his brother on what’s app - great bloke, now he could tell you some crazy stories

Film is crap however when I heard this tune I had to share - can easily see this getting plays out - if someone cut the chorus line and looped it to make it 1:50 long - Happy to get this as a discovery enjoy - remember where you heard it fist

SIMON SOUSSAN | MIND BLOWING NORTHERN SOUL! Charley Channel
Zoomsoulblue replied to Mal C's topic in All About the SOUL
Back at the Casino record bar area when I first started collecting around 75/76 - although I never knew SS his name along with a major record dealer got the blame for every new pressing , bootleg etc. A new sound would be played by a DJ and bang the following week pressings we’re getting knocked out at £5 a shot - and everyone would go effing SS again or the other guy - the feeling I always got was they weren't welcome, with people mumbling the usual - “if they come down here, there’ll get it”. Looking back I am sure they got the blame for some pressings and bootlegs - that had nothing to do with them - very convenient for other people to pass the blame -
Just as a side note the image attached is the closest I could find - I can’t remember a score line in the pills they were solid - the specks on the picture were darker in real life and odd shapes - when walking around with the pills for a few minutes in ur pocket loose and with you’re sweaty hands in you’re pockets - yes it did turn you’re fingers blue

Paul Strychnine Blues - usually called blueys then you would ask were they Stychnine Blues - 50p each - buzz was the word but not great for dancing also if you sat down you kind of couldn’t be bothered to get up - but you were off ur head - I took 6 at Yate once not clever sat at a table all night blocked while people rushed around finding me sleeping tabs or babs to bring me down. they were only sold for about 6 - 8 months great for pub beer heads - Sulphate was in short supply - however when the next batch came through (usually the Welsh connection) thouse Strychnine Blues faded out - we still talk about them today and the thermos flask which was stashed with them buried in a garden somewhere big give away was white foam at the edge of ur mouth Eyes open like really open Approx year 77 - I use to knock them out to the local pub - Hells Angles loved them rumoured to contain rat poison

History of Sheffield Soul Scene
Zoomsoulblue replied to Sheffieldsoulg's topic in All About the SOUL
Back in the 80ts I use to attend the KGB on numerous times - remember arriving at Sheffield station at night and trying to find the club pre Google which was daunting I remember internally sitting on the floor and couldn’t understand why the bloke on the other side kept looking at me , I looked away then looked at him again - it was then I discovered mirrors were on one side sent me paranoid as f&£@ They say never wish for what you want one night they had a 100% Motown night - trust me at 5 in the morning and listening to This old heart of mine for the 10th time ain’t no fun - then you had the long walk back to the station - one of life’s growing up experiences -
notice Mike Morton - Which did “these things will keep me loving you” - which was covered up as the blue sharks / Soul Sam 76 ish - St Ives All-nighters

I read an article years ago that back when groups were touring due to demand, if they advertised The Four Tops - it could be anyone (within reason) as it wasn’t the Org Four Tops
