I don't believe that anyone's suggesting that all that go to the very commenadble effort of organising a charity event are less than honest......just that some are a little dubious...and maybe if there was more transparency in the funds donated then perhaps there would be less cynacism.....that's all...

I DJ'd at a night in Peterborough a few years back....Adam Buchannan told me that is was an across the board night, so I thought ok, and took a mix of rarer 60's, crossover and modern tunes.. You know how you get a feeling that maybe this just doesn't look right....the car park full of Vespas and Lambrettas was a bit of a signal that maybe I should have picked up, but no....benefit of the doubt and all that. I followed a guy that played very, very obvious Motown...all the time thinking I should get my coat. Almost cleared the floor with the first couple of tunes, and then it was total empty space for the third and fourth..One of the punters who didn't seem too impressed with what I'd played so far came upto the decks to give me some helpful advice...."It's a Motown night mate....have you got The Snake...Edwin Starr ? .....err no....and it's by Al Wilson....not Edwin Starr ok then.....have you got anything else on Trojan ?? I decided not to mention that Edwin Starr didn't actually record on Trojan......and spent the longest hour behind decks in my life...

It's been on my wants list for so long that I've forgotten what it sounds like........

So it's "bang out of order" to hand out a few CDs gratis at a soul night, but perfectly ok to commercially sell 1000's without licernsing and fair dues to the recording artsists; licensees and publishers.....talk about kettle and pot.....it's politicians and duck houses again...

Craig Moerer's asking silly money for his copy....I'm sick to death of seeing it on eBay...Buy It Now... 400-500 is about right IMO...

I'd only get involved in a charity event with someone that I knew well and trusted....there are chancers out there that promote under the guise of charity with less moral values than politicians with duck houses....

I don't think anyone on here is making allegations, just asking a question. If the costs of the all-dayer were genuinely 3,355 then fair enough, but you've got to agree your costs were extremely high for a single all-day event. Could you not have asked DJs to provide services for free given the charitiable cause ?

I think Tes has made a fair point, and asked a fair question. If an event has been advertised as all profits going to charity which is highly commendable gesture, then it's reasonable to expect that to be the case. I've checked on the events lookback thread, and unless I've misunderstood, a total of 567 pounds was made from the raffle and CD sales, and that's the amount now held pending a decision on the charity. I couldn't find any mention of other profits made from the 600 attendees who each paid 6 pounds entry.

Thanks for putting me right on the two releases....I've had a proper listen, and you're all right, it is is a different vocalist, but as Sean says, there's hardly anything between them. Too many years of loud music has obviously taken its toll on my poor old ears.. BTW.....My Private Stock copy is credited to DeDe Warwick, and not Dee Dee Warwick, though it has relese number 45,011, so it seems that there are at least 3 different Private Stock labels..... .....ok, I'll put my anorak away now...

Does anyone have any background info on the reasons that Dee Dee Warwick's "Funny How We Changed Places" on Private Stock was issued earlier on Musicor credited to Debra Anderson ? The tracks are exactly the same, and the flips side tracks are too, though the flip titles are different ?? Contractual maybe......
