Whilst at the Luton soul night I came across an aged man trying to stumble and slip-n-slide in time with the soulful platter on offer. I was all for escorting him off the floor and back to his warm bed at the old peoples home but was shocked to see that it was in fact one Mr Tim Brown, owner of some mighty fine 45's!! This was the look on my face at the time! So, my question is 2 fold: firstly, where the hell did he learn to 'dance' (and note the use of said word is for illustrative purposes only) and 2) is the size of your original collection directly in proportion to your ability to 'dance' (see note above) like a complete and total grandad (thought the emotive I used wasn't in keeping with the topic) I await enlightment from the soul police

Agree with both Taffy and KarenB comments. Most people do moan about the politics because they are so BORED and NAFFED OFF with hearing the same old arguments regurgated over and over and over again. KarenB hit the nail firmly on the head - we are into for the music, the people and the good times. Anything else doesn't matter.

hmmmm, tricky one! I think you've left quite a lot out there Vinnie and obviously should have posted this question BEFORE going to any venue (doh!) Obviously you are a newbie that hasn't studied the 1001 political questions regarding Northern Soul and the scene in general. I suggest that you refrain from going to any further events until you have establshed firmly which side of the fence you are on and can argue in a boring and offensive manner, be set in your ways and not be swayed by the fantastic music on offer at all.
