  1. I rest my case! Now we can all marvel at the pure sexual energy that oozes forth from the Silver Fox XX ( I am considering doing life size cut outs for the bedrooms of those interested for that 'he's right here' feeling. Any takers?)
  2. Hi Peter, Here Stands The Weeper as it was the only one listed but now I'm going to have to check out the rest of the sound clips of the lp as they are now all posted !!!!
  3. Thats a FANTASTIC TOOOOOOOOOOOOOON! Herbert at his best. Can someone please sort out an official release because I need to have this in my life
  4. It is Silver Fox and I've no worries about the film being good, as you and I know at the filming they were very hot on making sure it was all as authentic as possible, including removing jewellery and watches etc that weren't of the period from us ageing extras!! On the subject of good looking sexy originals I find it hard to believe they will find anyone to play your stunning 70's self given that I still have your pic pinned to my wall when you were at Wigan! mmmmmmm, oh hang a sec, too much information
  5. Top man Ian! I see Lonnie Hill is included and a record I spin as often as I can, Xmas or not!!!!! For this track alone it should be on everyones list for the stocking
  6. Dr Soul an old Mod fave from the 80's and a great toon as all have said. Wont mention how much it used to go for back then Pickles, hows things mate?
  7. No probs Mr Smithy, as you say different strokes. By no means his best or even in the same country soul league as some of his other stuff but just has great memories for me.
  8. His version of The Wanderer is pretty fab too.Happy memories of the early local 6T's scene late 70's spent at countless 'Soul Nites' held in back rooms in pubs, church halls all over Letchworth, Baldock and Hitchin. Enjoy! and whilst we are at it, the first Arthur song I ever heard and made me cry! STUNNING!!!!!
  9. Arthur remains one of my all time top 3 singers (of all time mate!) with just great soul track after soul track oozing forth. His life story makes a bloody good read too so if you haven't got your Xmas pressie to yourself sorted out yet then I suggest: Get a Shot of Rhythm and Blues: The Arthur Alexander Story Paperback by Mr. Richard Younger (Author) Fantastic yet sad read about one of the great unsung heroes who influenced everyone from The Stones to the Beatles to countless soul acts throughout the years.
  10. There are toons then there is Arthurs Stay By Me! I remember Randy Cozens playing this to me down the phone as soon as he had it in his sweaty palms, as we were both huge Arthur fans, and after al,most 10 repeats we were both agreed, the best Arthur song ever. Has it all, one that every true soulie should have and the one that will be escorting me down the slope as I shuttle off this mortal coil! Unissued? What the hell were they thinking.
  11. TheBigO commented on a comment on a gallery image in 1980/90s Soul
  12. I prefer to get my message to society out there so it's wally - and no obvious witticism thank you Schofield!!!
  13. Fear not Schofield, I will have your pipe and slippers and a nice warm cup of coco at the ready And mine also
  14. OUCH! That really made me laff out loud Pete
  15. Not a great deal aprt from a few references from some Merseybeat band that said they went into the studio with him and recorded four tracks that he promptly legged it with and they've never seen him or the tracks since. He wasnt the only soul singer from Liverpool, Steve Aldo was and he's right up there in my UK Soulful great 45s! Seems that Colin was very well known around the Liverpool soul circuit and wasn't restrained when it came to jumping up on stage to join other artists playing like Inez & Charlie Foxx, top man! Just found this " Areety was a Liverpool singer, popular in the north-west from the 1960s on (apparently when Stevie Wonder played Liverpool on his first UK visit, Areety was invited onstage to jam with him) but who never quite made it to the national consciousness. He died a few years ago.
  16. Well said Schofield and quite deep for you of a Monday morning
  17. Ah just what we need, another debate For what its worth Rare Soul to me means exactly what Searling described, rare in quality not just quantity, although it just so happens that many of the greats are rare.
  18. Much like your good self Schofield!
  19. Ditto! Great toon too.
  20. Is there anything you don't have Schofield! Thanks Steve, good toon. Surely you remember Piano C Red from the early days too?
  21. For those still wanting to see the trailer you have to view it via Mikes updated post earlier here as its now been removed from the original site.
  22. is it these?
  23. Now thats a memory blast from the early days of my youth! West Hampstead Toon and a Jackmans Community Centre fave via Taffy if I recall. Just a great record. Rather appropriate for us aging Soulies these days, along with 'My Aching Back' Lowell Fulsom
  24. Your right Steve, thats our new Soul club around here isnt it?
  25. I was sensible and waited for the DVD release but like you Schofield (x) I thought it was ok as a film, then i wasn't expecting an in-depth deep socilogical foray into the twilight world of the Rare Soul scene like so many other
