Bloody hell, this post is still running. ...well its about time there was a leic revivel niter ???? lord knows how many of us are left ??.i see in one of the photos above, the bott one, in it looks like phil flavel, with hair... ..still sometimes see him around....some of you lot try and get to that mini leic niter they are doing at the music cafe, in dec, if im correct........was looking at the dvd from leic oddfellows at derby rolls royce last week...ha. think i better get one , while still can...all those great people , many friends...who no doubt will never meet up with.....um...makes you think...all the best to all who know me.hope to bump into some of you on the dance floor...or on a scooter event..now iv a new vespa.gts...martyn

Lord had a few good times there, then onto wigan...could never do it now,,lol Loads of great soul, funky style tunes played there....you had to be there.... Sure , FRANKIE LOVEMAN CROCKER - TON OF DYNAMITE ..played there ? And, ELOISE LAWS - LOVE FACTORY.. JO ARMSTEAD - GOT THE VIBES..... ALL top stuff.... martyn

Good topic this...Rugbysoulgirl.. im Sorry to say that im sometimes to blame for SPINNIN, alot of the time, Even when the floor is full.... i do try not to get in everyones way, but Sometimes the Music just takes me to another place..( if you know what i mean) weve all been there... I do try to do my stuff when a space appears, but dont like to go mad all the time when the floor is say nearly empty, as dont want to think im showing off.... where to draw the line ?? as sometimes im on the floor for 3 hrs...ha.... Lucky for me people know i need room, ha.. and some give me space ... thanks to you all, you know who you are..!! MOANS if any, for me would be.....djs who dont play for the crowd... and keep it movin along.. AND people who just stand around when there is,nt that much space, gettin in the way..... not good... And last one, When they nick your chair after you,ve been dancing , etc....ha... And by that i mean , they get there 3hrs late, and just take it, while you,re on the floor...um!!!!!!!!!! all the best, to all who know me, martyn.(leic best dancer)

YEP Agree with the above... Had some brill times there.. We all used to catch the old Barton bus from leic.. ha. Good times they all were..Some great soulful people there + the Funk , Jazz crowd also.. Very freindly bunch, up or down stairs.... This is where i got into the , Jazz Funk, Fusion stuff.. .. And got into some serious dancing.. . You had to, to get on the small round dance floor.. . And what clothes we all used to wear.. lol... inc, slip on kung fu shoes.. , Baggy pegs, etc... What times they were.. Would,nt change a thing.... After the palis... it was onto the, Rock City... .. Where Johnathan used to run... Who i believe is back on the , dj tip ?? mart

Had some real top niters there.. we sometimes went, NORTH PARK 1st. local soul nite, kett... Then catch the soul coach from there.. then in the morn get the train back to leic... ha. .. Great days they were too.. would,nt change a thing..well wish id brought more records then..ha. ....When one of us did borrow is dads car, which was a datsun.. ha. Me, + Steve Jeffries, + Russ Kinherd, + the leic fireman who was killed in a fire at work , few years ago. sad time... Rob Miller... miss him still. top man....... Anyway we had some good times there... oh, also adie came with us a few times... forget is last name. ?? i used to warm up in the main room... After lookin at tunes in the large foyer area.. had a few good deals there too.. Then id be going mad at it, in the small black oldies room.. ha.. this and the oddfellows being my best 2 events for me.... martyn.( leic best mover still)..

Wonder how many of the , ODDFELLOWS crowd are still out there today ?? bearing in mind its been, over 20 YEARS.... for me i enjoyed it, Better than, Wigan.. SUNNYSOUL - Some good points there mate, nice long post. PETE S.- Was better in the old days only cos it was all NEW to us all... Think the scene is doing ok.. but if no new blood starts coming along ? Then there could be probs in the future.. Thank god there is a younger crowd from far a field getting into this type of music now. Very much doubt records we danced to in the 70s... and some still do, (inc me) can last another 20, 30 years..ha Days are numbered i feel.... give it 10 years... then lets see whats going on..
