  1. Brenton Wood - although was an athlete only at college level
  2. Also still got a copy of that issue somewhere. That feature had a big impact on me as a youngster who'd only recently discovered the strange world of Northern Soul! Don't think I'd even been to an allnighter then, only soul nights of various sizes around the Kent area. After reading that, and all the tales I'd already heard from mates who had the luxury of a car, and I was raring to travel 'up North' for my Northern Soul baptism (which happened to be at Hinckley to see some bloke called JJ Barnes).
  3. No, they're designed to stack. The rounded 'balls' on the corners of the bottom of the box are indented, meaning that top and bottom of separate boxes fit snugly into one another...
  4. I have a couple of Swan 200s already. There's plenty of clearance between the handle and the base courtesy of the raised corners. They stack perfectly. Hold on, I'll take a quick pic. Here you go...
  5. And there's this killer gospel number from the other Larks...
  6. Back to Swan for me then.
  7. Have to say that the last Swan 200 box I bought wasn't that well put together - the lid doesn't fit as flush as it should. Given that Swan are quite expensive, especially when you add shipping to Europe on top of the price, I reckon the Neo make could be worth a try - but only if they stack. I've got a couple of old 300 boxes I'd like to get rid of - the damn things weigh a ton!
  8. Can anyone confirm whether the Neo boxes are stackable? As has been mentioned, it looks like the handle would prevent that from being possible.

  10. So, nobody should ever not snipe...
  11. Any chance you could clarify that bit, Bob? Should we always ever snipe or should we not ever snipe?
  12. I'm listening to that track now and think it's great fun - a wild glockenspiel version of Ghost Riders in the Sky! I can just imagine the reaction if you managed to get someone to play this out unwittingly. Brilliant!
  13. Just got a copy of this in the last week. When you listen to the tracks with the vocals on, the spotlight's very much on Morris Chestnut's wonderful tones and in some respects he overshadows the supporting arrangements. Listening to them without his voice and you can't help but notice just how rich and well produced the backing tracks for both cuts really are.
  14. How much is postage to Europe, please? Couldn't see it on the site you linked to...
  15. I feel it... I bought a load of plastic sleeves about a year ago - the tight fitting ones, which was just what I wanted. Went back for more some months later thinking they'd be the same, but ended up with a couple of hundred of the slightly larger sized ones. Flippin' useless!
  16. I've now upped all my snipes to £26.91
  17. I have no idea who any of these people are, but just wanted to say that it's a brilliant photo! Look at them all - full of youth, excitement and energy! It's brilliant. No, it's better than that, it's absolutely classic!
  18. Yes, an update would be very much appreciated.
  19. Thanks for that. So, which two CD's is John Manship referring to and when did they come out? Looking on Amazon it could be any of quite a handful!
  20. Ah, you've just answered my question!
  21. Thanks And a genuine release, I presume...
  22. Just bought myself a copy of this great track on a UK 45 (as in the pic below). It was previously LP or Spanish 45 only, I believe. Is that right? When did it get reissued in the UK? The copy I've just got is so minty fresh it could have been pressed five minutes ago.

McGilberry! My guess at McGilvery was close, but no cigar!

Not sure about the Cee Dee / Dee Cee label variant, but isn't this written by the same person who wrote Johnny McCall's "I need you baby" on Al Teen? The name McGilvery rings a bell. The guitar playing style on both is very similar as well if I recall correctly.
