  1. A speedy recovery Ian, those nights at the Highland room will never be forgotten, it was part of my history and the process of my learning to love the music and the scene. The records that you introduced to the scene will always be legendary and will live on forever. From a fan and a someone with a great deal of respect for your work and input to the Northern Soul scene.
  2. Yes thank you Andy. I was in touch with Elaine, Matthew and Ian dewhirst today (Sunday) and it was a mistake on the organisers part. Apparently the Central was mentioned in passing when someone suggested the HiFi club, and them not knowing any better, thought that the Central would be on the night of filming. It has all been put to rights now and they have apologised for the mix up, and have changed the listing to 'Hifi soul' instead of the 'Leeds Central' which is not until the 19th October. I will be there for the filming and it has been suggested that I do a DJ set too, hopefully that will happen.
  3. All a good flyer needs is: Where (which town/City) it's taking place in larger letters for the not so well sighted and in dark rooms/clubs. The address and postcode of the venue The DJs and what style of music will be played An eye catching design so it stands out from the other flyers it's going to get put next to. Times of the event and event rules i.e age limits etc. In other words as much info as possible without writing a manuscript.
  4. LOL!! Funny as.......
  5. Revised listing. Please check link. https://mapsengine.google.com/map/viewer?mid=zFGS9e5qkNpI.k1gQ4NA_b2Io Listing has been revised by the organisers to 'HiFi Soul' on the 10th september, NOT 'The Leeds Central'. The next 'Leeds Central Alldayer' is on the 19th October
  6. Can someone please point me to the thread that says that to celebrate the release of the film, they will be filming at various venues over the next week and interviewing the promotors and original DJs and dancers, including the 'Leeds Central' on Wednesday the 10th?? It's the first I have heard of it?? Thank you
  7. This is the one I bought in April this year: Timi Yuro - Something Bad On My Mind (LP, Album) Media Condition: Very Good Plus (VG+) Sleeve Condition: Very Good (VG) $14.00 It was in better than described condition too.
  8. LOL!! Oh dear!! Pete S, those are my questions that I asked him, and of course the answers I recieved. Pretty damn funny, obviously not a didgeridoo about prices. Probably has read somewhere that Marvin did a rare record that was picked up by the NS scene, so every record that marvin recorded is Northern Soul and worth a fortune. Oh! thought I'd add this too. This is the next message I sent him, but didn't get a reply. Yes of course I understand that it is your price and people are not forced to buy it if they don't want. I was merely enquiring. There are VERY few if any bootlegs (non genuine) about of this title, as there were literally thousands of this title pressed and released, it got to number 7 in the Billboard charts in the USA. You can pick up a stone mint copy for £20 or less. Anyway, Thanks for the info and I hope that your auction sale goes well.
  9. Seen this on eBay. Nothing special, I asked him. Thought it might be a signed copy maybe? Marvin Gaye - What's going on - Tamla US Normal - £404 start price. https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=301286508288&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:GB:1123
  10. Yes I have the Green OOTP one, but I thought I would look for an original release to replace it. I have read that the OOTP one is the original version with the longer break in the middle, and the re-presses were different and another press was a completly different recording. How true is this?
  11. Is this one of the boots please?
  12. Thank you, don't suppose there is an image available?
  13. Hi, just need a little advise please. Has there ever been a boot of Jerry Williams - If you ask me on 'Calla' demo'? Thank you
  14. Any idea what a demo copy of this would be worth Pete?
  15. Thanks for the suggestions. Not tried any yet but think I'll give the glass and oven method a go. Don't think there'll be enough heat outside or even in a conservatory for the tiles method to work. Thanks again
  16. Huge Leeds Central and Casino track back in the day as Ian so rightly pointed out. Great track!!
  17. Transfer the album tracks to MP3, or better .wav, and send them to vinylcarvers.com. They charge £20 + P&P for a double sided 7".
  18. Well the post header says it all really. I have had a 12" album under heavy books for about 6 weeks thinking it might work, but no. So any tried and tested methods that actually work? Thanks
  19. Just recently our postie has taken to putting records through any open window he can find. Doesn't bother ringing the bell when it won't go through the letterbox, just chucks it through the window. I was sitting at the puter a few weeks ago, and I heard an almighty slap, the dog started barking, I wondered what the hell it was. carried on thinking it might have been a door slamming maybe, then got up half an hour later to find a 12" album mailer on the floor below the lounge window. Thank heavens the record wasn't broken or there will have been hell to pay. By the time I had found the record the postie was well gone. Next time he had done the same in the conservatory window. Hope I catch him, I'll have words I can tell you.
  20. Yes but there are as many Cds that have faults too. I think this is just part of the process, it would be impossible to acheive 100% perfection.
