Lee David ... Temptation Is Calling ... Blue Eyed ?
- Sam Fletcher
That picture was taken from the September 1, 1962 issue of Cashbox magazine. Here's something you might be interested in. I don't think the project ever got off the ground but would have been quite an album. I know Betty and Jerry did team up for the "Delicious Together album". From Record World- July 18,1964-- Sam Fletcher

Pay no attention to the 1963 date- Cameo/ Parkway and their subsidiaries all put one date on their early to mid 60's labels. One-der-ful/ Mar-V-Lus and M-Pac also did the same thing. The Oscar Wright was most likely released in late 1966.- Sam Fletcher
I'm Glad you liked it . If I find any more , I'll post them.- Sam Fletcher
- looking for this amazing track...
The lyrics in the snippet reference the Buckinghams "Don't You Care". The singer sounds a lot like this guy (Jim Peterik). Is this an obscure Ides of March track ?? -- Golden World: Locals & Outsiders Involved
I agree "Don't Say.." isn't top shelf Detroit but... if you listen to Holly's cringe inducing version of "Blueberry Hill" on the flip side, it sounds like she's singing over the San Remo String's version of the song-- Edward Hamilton-The Natural Looks - My Darling Baby-Two cuts
I wanted to add that "My Darling Baby" was released another time with this as its flip side. I believe they meant to use #1011 instead of 1111 for the release number -- Edward Hamilton-The Natural Looks - My Darling Baby-Two cuts
The Arabians were George Goodman, Clarence McClean, Charles Laird and Robert Tut. Sometime after the release of "(Please ) Take A Chance On Me", Edward left the group and was working with the New Falcons (Big Wheel) . None of the songs were ever released. The Fifes were Lou Beatty Jr., Jerome Crawford and Frankie Simms. One of the group ended up in prison and the Fifes broke up after this. In 1967, Edward reunited with the Arabians and released "I'm Gonna Love You Baby". Clarence McClean left the group soon after this. This may or may not be the reason for the name change to the New Looks. All this info comes from the liner notes to the Grapevine CD "Lou Beatty's Detroit Soul". And. it looks like "Baby Don't You Weep" was released in August of 1967, so 1968 seems like the correct year for "My Darling Baby. Here'a a survey with "Baby..." clocking in at #40 -- Golden World: Locals & Outsiders Involved
I did find an article in Billboard about "Bob" Bateman from January, 1966 but it also included a lot of info about other producers. However, this article from Record World (November 27, 1965) shows things were in progress earlier-- Golden World: Locals & Outsiders Involved

There were a few Steve Claytons in the record biz (according to discogs). I'm not sure which one made this 45 but i have feeling this is a Pop record.- The Manhattans - I Call It Love / JAYSINA Ent inc acetate

As far as I can tell, "Bring It On Home To Me' was released in March of 1972. I know the label lists Pac-3 as being in Detroit but this Billboard article has Pac 3 in Dearborn. Were there 2 Pac-3 Studions?- Manship Auction - Sept. 25, 2024

I have never come across Maltese Records in Chicago but I have found a few Stephanye 45's (Shirley J. Scott and the Prophets) .- Golden World: Locals & Outsiders Involved
Not sure if Irv was born in Detroit but, this article makes it seems like he had been working in the area for years-- great Northern a-sides with awful b-sides- what's the worse?
The flip side to "Unsatisfied" is a dismal little tune. Making it worse is the fact this was the intended A side-- Jody's Got Your Girl and Gone

The Everest label was founded in 1958 by the Belock Instrument Corp. in New York . In 1962, the label was sold and the new owner moved the label to Los Angeles. I think that's why there was some confusion about where Alcor was based. There is no correlation between Alcor Steel and the Everest label .- Golden World: Locals & Outsiders Involved
The Fleetwood release was very likely first- Fleetwood was based in Massachusetts and the group appears to from the East Coast. I don't think the title had anything to do with the record being so hard to find. It looks like the record was released in late July/ early August of '66 which was when Motown started talks with Golden World. Golden World probably decided not to promote it.- Golden World: Locals & Outsiders Involved
I agree - if the big chains did carry cutout Soul 45's there might be a small table with a few hundred 45's sealed in plastic or you could buy a mystery box of 45's at a better price - - Sam Fletcher
