For a while now, a few of us have been reminiscing about our early days on the soul scene and talking about the fantastic clubs we had around the Fylde in the seventies.
We thought it would be good to have a night playing the sounds which shaped our lifelong love of soul music.
With that in mind, we’re holding our first soul night at Hampton Road Social Club. Across the board tracks – something for everyone.
The club has a great wooden dance floor, plenty of seating and cheap drinks.
There is a large car park and accommodation is available at the Travelodge behind the venue.
Please spread the word and let’s make this a night to remember.
Our intention from the offset was to run a regular Soul night in Blackpool. This was dependant on the first event being successful. It would appear from the feedback that we’ve received on the night of the event and in the following days that this was the case. As a result of our success we are holding another event on Friday 22nd July of this year (you’ve probably seen the posts on here and other pages). We have chosen this date so that it doesn't clash with any other local events or large events further from home such as Bridlington.
For this event, along with DJ’s Shaun, Tim, and Ged, we’ve managed to secure the services of Derek Smith. Derek is a well known and respected DJ who performs at Greenlands, Preston and Chorley Football Club amongst other venues. By agreeing to perform for us he fits in with our policy of using guest DJ’s in order to keep us developing into the venue that we hope to be. Also on this occasion and for future Soul nights, we’ve managed to secure a bar extension till 1 am.
