LOS ANGELES (AP) — Leon Haywood, the silky smooth R&B singer-songwriter and producer whose 1975 single "I Want'a Do Something Freaky to You" was famously sampled by Dr. Dre and others, has died. He was 74.

Haywood's godson Darnell "OG Cuicide" Price said he died in his sleep Tuesday in Los Angeles.

Sad news indeed.  Wasn't Baby Reconsider the first £40 record?

Passed-on

I love so many stuffs through the decades by the MAN. But when I grabbed this 45 for the first time some 20 years ago, it grew up on me instantly to become my very favorite of him. For some weird reasons on Youtube it only features the dreaded added strings versions of 'you know what' on Atlantic. So I dug out my Evejim copy and did an mp3 of it. Sorry can't access my Youtube account anymore. RIP SIR HAYWOOD.
