I read a lot of comments on here that things aren't what they used to be, venues are all offering the same old tired formula, I don't bother going out anymore , what happened to the days when you'd travel halfway across the country to hear a certain record etc etc, To all those nay sayers out there I'd say there are plenty of places trying to offer something a little different, venues struggling to survive, not all venues come free of hire and some like the Civic don't come cheap either.

I've attended the Civic since the start over four years ago and seen it evolve to be honest from playing a mish mash with no seeming sense of direction to your normal run of the mill though excellent Northern night to what it is now, still evolving into a night that tries to bring something different, Dj's given the freedom to do what they do, ok sometimes it doesn't work for some  but you can't judge the scene if you don't know what else is out there and in the last few months the Civic has certainly delivered on the variety front with Dj's from as far afield as Scotland and Italy, last night was another good example, four great half hour  sets from guests Pete Everett and Les Harrison playing underplayed, r n b ,a touch of latin , rare and everything in between with a few classics for good measure.

There are some great nights out there giving that something different, what more can you want, one of the best dancefloors around just a pity the soft drinks are at Savoy Hotel prices...........or so I'm told
