The return of the Ashton Ukrainian continues after a few fabulous nights in 2021 and we're hoping for another great installment.
If you haven't been before here's a potted history from our very own Chris Churm:
The club was originally based at the  Dukinfield Masonic hall, starting well in January 2017  attended by around 100 guests. Resident DJs were Brian Lester, Chris Churm and Chris Penn.
The venue was great with a large dance floor  and ran until May 2017 when it moved to the Ukrainian Club, a slightly smaller venue (capacity 130) perfect the type of night we were trying to run delivering a mix of lesser known, rare and under played soul; a bit of everything.
The  first date  was June 2017 and was a  great night musically. January 2020 was the 3rd anniversary with guests Phil wainwright and Alex Jones,  respected collector/ DJs to entertain us with their fantastic collections and they were superb, and it was one of our best nights.
Following that in Feb 2020  Les Harrison (one of our regular DJs) and Geoff Stubbs of Stockport were our guests and were excellent as usual .
I must  thank Les Harrison and sue  who were at our first night in 2017 and have only missed the odd one when he has been booked to DJ at Culcheth and our dates unfortunately clashed . He has also helped us to sort the gremlins in the sound system on a few occasions.
Sadly  Brian Lester  who used to play some great tracks decided to bow out from the scene  and our other original DJ maestro Chris Penn moved to the  north east, he  will be missed ,but he has assured us he will be back to annoy us from time to time to DJ for us. .
Here is a list of some of the guys and girls that have played for us and have all taken part in the spirit of our humble Ukrainian club soul evening.

As we all know  in March  2020 (just as our guests  Simon Ingham and Mick Howard  were ready to  DJ for us) the pandemic struck and everything stopped but the restart will pick up where we left off and  Simon alongside Mick will be our first guests, hopefully we can bounce back .
Post pandemic the club have informed us that for the night to continue it will have to be a Saturday night event, ironically that is what we first wanted and we think could be better for everyone so keep an eye on the soul source calendar for future instalments.
We hope everyone is well and can’t wait to see you all again

Soul at the Man
Resident DJ's Span and Mike Coburn welcome you to the 4th of our Soul nights at the Winking Man Pub in 2022. Come and join us at the most stunning of locations, a venue with an unrivalled dancefloor and sound system!
Soul at the Man began 7 or 8 years ago and at first we relied on a loyal, local following. We now have Soul fans travelling from Stoke-on-Trent, Cheshire, Derbyshire, South Yorkshire, Greater Manchester, South Wales and further afield.
We will be playing everything on vinyl as usual, Northern Soul Classics, Motown dancers, Sixties and Seventies Soul and of course some rarer and underplayed tunes thrown in!
The Winking Man has absolutely everything a Soul fan needs. It is a gem in the Peak District on the main Leek to Buxton Road A53. It has beautiful surroundings and a large free car park. Overnight camper vans are more than welcome, however please contact the venue first to book your spot. If you don't wish to drive, there are plenty of superb local taxi services including minibuses. For those travelling from further afield, there is a great selection of local accommodation.
Inside, the large bar opposite the stage sells a great range of refreshments at very reasonable prices. There is ample seating throughout the venue when you need to take a breather from dancing.
In between the stage and the bar is the pride and joy of the room... the huge dancefloor. It will be polished to perfection and a pleasure to dance on. We must insist on NO TALC, DRINKS OR HANDBAGS on the dancefloor please.

Deptford Northern Soul Club bring their infamous party to the stunningly refurbished New Century Hall in Manchester on Saturday November 19th. With its original sprung dance floor, disco ceiling and state of the art sound system, NC hall is now hosting an eclectic variety of events curated by NowWave.

New Century Hall is one of Manchester’s hidden gems and is plays a big part in its musical heritage. In the 60s Jimi Hendrix and Jerry Lee Lewis rocked the stage as part of the army of US exports finding fame in the UK. Home grown talent such as The Hollies, The Kinks, Herman’s Hermits and Procol Harum all crafted their acts playing here before going on to worldwide fame.
Today the hall has been fully restored with its vintage wood wall panelling, sprung dance floor and psychedelic illuminated ceiling fully intact. Now equipped with a fully stocked bar, state of the art sound and stage production equipment, the venue will play host to an eclectic range of events throughout the year.
