Steve Plumb 395 Posted May 13, 2019 MASSIVE THANKS to everyone who came to the 8th Anniversary of SO SOULFUL 70's on Saturday and also many thanks to everyone who has supported us over the last 8 years who couldn't be there. Saturday was absolutely packed and absolutely brilliant. Musically it wasn't just classics from the last 8 years (which many anniversaries can become) but a real mixture of diverse tunes old and new with plenty of rare and cheap tunes sitting side-by-side. All with one thing in common, they were listened to and danced to by that special 'So Soulful 70's' crowd. Folks who know a good tune when they hear it and who aren't afraid to get out there on the dancefloor, making that unique 'So Soulful 70's' atmosphere. The guest DJ's Steve Clayton, Bob Taylor, Jem Booth & John Townend are guys who have supported us since day one and have all DJ'd here many times and who now have successful do's of their own, so it was right we showcased their talents and the night was made better by their four great sets. As ever, all me and Eddy Edmondson had to do was play around the guests to compliment their great work. This formula has worked for the last 8 years , so we must be doing something right? Thanks also to Barry Maleady, not only a regular DJ at SS70's but the man who provides the wall of sound that makes great tunes sound even better. Thanks also to Dave Griffiths (who unfortunately couldn't be there on Saturday) for making the CD's (this was actually CD #50 for our 50th event) and putting our choices into a listenable order and also to Smithy for handling the door and giving out the CD's. Thanks again and hopefully see you in July. Cheers Steve Plumb Link to comment
