Another 'Featured Sound' at CULCHETH recently is Henry Boatwright's outing 'I'm Hung Up a Dream' About which Mr Manship says "a lead-singer with SOUL BROTHERS INC. Henry Boatwright offers up a strong hammond driven MOD dancer, mighty vocal is more than matched by potent organ work.

Can't find a sound file for you so here's a piccie...Join us on the 6th to hear in crystal clear sound thumbup

Ditto that tune Baz!, how many folk have missed this?, expect as it catches on what copies there are out there, will dhsappear and the price will rise accordingly....or i'm wide of the mark?. Looked myself for a soundfile on youtube but amazingly, not there!

I can't remember the last time I heard The Squires played out, Ian Cunliffe put it on a tape for me and It was also on Baz's play list at The Saints but I'm thinking it was first played at Stafford. I loved it so much I even got Richard to give it a spin on his Sunset Radio show back in the day.

"You complain to me, about staying out late" thumbup

Rob our Simon's been giving it a spin at Culcheth as well, so it could get a couple of plays on the 6th Sept.

Yes, very likely Bob....it's a sort of left field tune and as Baz said, suits the mod jazz element down to the ground....Simon catching onto plenty of neglected stuff as well as big hitters.👍

Paul has been around since the early days of the Casino, a regular at Lowton Civic as well as many more all-nighters and soul nights over the years including Culcheth, Burnley Lost Souls, Horwich RMI, Jacaranda Liverpool. It's great to see Ged Lunt back in the modern room, I hope he brings this one with him.

He put this on CDR for me at Prestwich and I've just got round to buying myself a Jap copy.

Right next job clear the cobwebs off my CD player. thumbsup

Ged also put this Mark Morrison classic on that same CDR in Feb 2010 and it immediately blew me away.

When I think back there was lots of great stuff played in that Prestwich modern room and now Culcheth is carrying on with the quality.

Like many others Bob, Ged, You, Myself viewed the Modern Room at Prestwich as a real 'Oasis'! Some of the nights and music played there over the years made a mark on sooo many peeps thumbup

Saturday morning and there's no Wheeler Dealers on Quest so I thought I'll check out that Sonny Til album I bought last month. Whilst browsing through the LP rack for it, I came across this 4 track sampler EP from 2009, I'd totally forgotten about it and how brilliant this track is. Perfect for the Culcheth modern room.

Listening to it now reminds me of Earth, Wind and Fire with a bit of George Benson thrown in for good measure with a killer backing, Love it.

It's been a while but we finally managed to 'snag' very popular DJ STEVE THOMAS and invite him onto the CULCHETH ALL-DAYER rota to 'spin a fewtunes'

Passionate Northern Soul and well known for his deep vinyl collection and love of keeping the dancefloor alive with rare grooves and classic floor-fillers. With years of experience behind the decks, Steve brings authentic energy to every set, celebrating the timeless spirit of Northern Soul and keeping the scene thriving for old and new generations alike. Like sooo many who frequent Culcheth Soul nights, a LOWTON ‘veteran’ but a DJ who is in demand all across North Wales and the North West, and rightly so! Looking forward to welcoming Steve on Sept 6th

Here’s a tune from Steve picking up serious plays at the mo

There's a tenuous link between Special Guest DJ Dean Anderson & this Sonny Til LP track that Dean played on his wonderful Soul show last month courtesy of Hoss and brought to our attention at Culcheth by Mick Howard.

How good is this.thumbup
